Ag@AgBr/Ag3PO4 Nanocomposites as Photocatalyst for Degradation of Rhodamine B

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2021
Ternary nano-Ag@AgBr/Ag3PO4 was synthesized via an approach involving ion interchange–precipitation and in situ photo-assisted reduction. It was then characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron ...

Nanoscale chemical imaging of a working catalyst by scanning transmission X-ray microscopy [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 2008
The modern chemical industry uses heterogeneous catalysts in almost every production process. They commonly consist of nanometre-size active components (typically metals or metal oxides) dispersed on a high-surface-area solid support, with performance depending on the catalysts' nanometre-size features and on interactions involving the active ...

Towards Defect Phase Diagrams: From Research Data Management to Automated Workflows

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A research data management infrastructure is presented for the systematic integration of heterogeneous experimental and simulation data required for defect phase diagrams. The approach combines openBIS with a companion application for large‐object storage, automated metadata extraction, provenance tracking and federated data access, thereby supporting ...

Solid‐State Diffusion and Intermetallic Phase Formation in Roll‐Bonded Mg–Zn Composites With Kirigami‐Patterned Inlay

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Mg–Zn composites with a thickness of 0.21 mm were fabricated using roll bonding of a kirigami‐patterned Mg alloy inlay within a Zn matrix. Thermal activation following this process led to the formation of tailored intermetallic structures, which provided the composite with enhanced flexural strength.

Xenon Plasma Focused Ion Beam Milling for Obtaining Soft X-ray Transparent Samples

open access: yesCrystals, 2021
We employ xenon (Xe) plasma focused ion beam (PFIB) milling to obtain soft X-ray transparent windows out of bulk samples. The use of a Xe PFIB allows for the milling of thin windows (several 100 nm thick) with areas of the order of 100 µm × 100 µm into ...
