Background The use of X-ray as a diagnostic tool for complication and anomaly in the neonatal patient has been helpful, but the effect of radiation on newborn stands to increase their cancer risk.

A Fundamental Line for Elliptical Galaxies
Recent studies have shown that massive galaxies in the distant universe are surprisingly compact, with typical sizes about a factor of three smaller than equally massive galaxies in the nearby universe.

The average structural evolution of massive galaxies can be reliably estimated using cumulative galaxy number densities [PDF]
Galaxy evolution can be studied observationally by linking progenitor and descendant galaxies through an evolving cumulative number density selection. This procedure can reproduce the expected evolution of the median stellar mass from abundance matching.

Self-Calibration of Cluster Dark Energy Studies: Observable-Mass Distribution
The exponential sensitivity of cluster number counts to the properties of the dark energy implies a comparable sensitivity to not only the mean but also the actual_distribution_ of an observable mass proxy given the true cluster mass.

Diversity of the Rachis-Branching System in a Panicle in Japónica Rice
Recently, rice varieties having large panicles with many spikelets are expected to produce high yield. However, the ripening, growth pattern, priority to photoassimilate partitioning and final grain weight in each spikelet vary with the position of the ...

First EISCAT measurement of electron-gas temperature in the artificially heated D-region ionosphere [PDF]
The ionospheric electron gas can be heated artificially by a powerful radio wave. According to our modeling, the maximum effect of this heating occurs in the D-region where the electron temperature can increase by a factor of ten.

Toward Precision Measurement of Central Black Hole Masses
We review briefly direct and indirect methods of measuring the masses of black holes in galactic nuclei, and then focus attention on supermassive black holes in active nuclei, with special attention to results from reverberation mapping and their ...

ABSTRACT Background Families of children with cancer experience significant financial strain, even with universal healthcare. Indirect costs, such as productivity losses and non‐medical expenses, are rarely included in economic evaluations, and little is known about how effectively financial aid programmes alleviate this burden. Childhood brain tumours

The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...
