A guide to bioinformatics for immunologists

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2013
Bioinformatics includes a suite of methods, which are cheap, approachable, and many of which are easily accessible without any sort of specialized bioinformatic training. Yet, despite this, bioinformatic tools are under-utilized by immunologists. Herein,

Off‐The‐Shelf Multivalent Nanoconjugate Cancer Vaccine Rescues Host Immune Response against Melanoma

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A star‐shaped cross‐linked polyglutamate (StCl) nanocarrier delivers melanoma‐associated peptide antigens via redox‐responsive linkers, inducing lymph node‐targeted antigen presentation. The nanoconjugate activates dendritic cells, promotes effector T‐cell responses, and enables tumor regression even in humanized patient‐derived preclinical models ...

Hole Scavenging and Photo-Stimulated Recombination of Electron-Hole Pairs in Aqueous TiO2 Nanoparticles [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
It is shown that 532 nm and 1064 nm laser photoexcitation of trapped electrons generated by 355 nm photolysis of aqueous titania (TiO2) nanoparticles causes rapid photobleaching of their absorbance band in the visible and near IR. This photobleaching occurs within the duration of the laser pulse (3 ns FWHM); it is caused by photoinduced electron ...

HSL-knockout mouse testis exhibits class B scavenger receptor upregulation and disrupted lipid raft microdomains[S]

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2012
There is a tight relationship between fertility and changes in cholesterol metabolism during spermatogenesis. In the testis, class B scavenger receptors (SR-B) SR-BI, SR-BII, and LIMP II mediate the selective uptake of cholesterol esters from HDL, which ...

Mechanical and Light Activation of Materials for Chemical Production

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
The actuation of stomata—referring to their opening and closing—is crucial for photosynthesis because it regulates gas exchange and water balance. Here, it is investigated if this life‐like property could enhance the photocatalytic properties of soft materials.

Free Radical Scavenging and Cytotoxic Activities of Substituted Pyrimidines [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
A library of substituted pyrimidines was synthesized and evaluated for free radical scavenging, and in vitro cytotoxic activity in 3T3 cells. All compounds showed good free radical scavenging activity with IC50 values in the range of 42.9 + 0.31 to 438.3 3.3 {\mu}M as compared to the standard butylated hydroxytoluene having IC50 value of 128.83 2.

Scavenger Receptor A: A New Route for Adenovirus 5

open access: yesMolecular Pharmaceutics, 2009
Adenoviruses are common pathogens associated with respiratory diseases, gastrointestinal illnesses and/or conjunctivitis. Currently, this virus is used as a vector in gene therapy trials. The promise of viral gene therapy applications is substantially reduced because the virus is cleared by liver macrophages upon systemic administration.

Photo‐Induced Bandgap Engineering of Metal Halide Perovskite Quantum Dots In Flow

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a photochemical synthetic route for bandgap engineering of metal halide perovskite quantum dots. Utilizing a material‐efficient microfluidic platform, the underlying mechanism of the photo‐induced anion exchange reaction (PIAER) of metal halide perovskite quantum dots is unveiled and first instance of the PIAER‐enabled synthesis of ...

Multiple Routes for Glutamate Receptor Trafficking: Surface Diffusion and Membrane Traffic Cooperate to Bring Receptors to Synapses [PDF]

open access: yesScience's STKE (electronic resource) : signal transduction knowledge environment 327 (21/03/2006) 13, 2007
Trafficking of glutamate receptors into and out of synapses is critically involved in the plasticity of excitatory synaptic transmission. Endocytosis and exocytosis of receptors have initially been thought to account alone for this trafficking. However, membrane proteins also traffic through surface lateral diffusion in the plasma membrane. We describe
