Near Optimal Task Graph Scheduling with Priced Timed Automata and Priced Timed Markov Decision Processes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Task graph scheduling is a relevant problem in computer science with application to diverse real world domains. Task graph scheduling suffers from a combinatorial explosion and thus finding optimal schedulers is a difficult task. In this paper we present a methodology for computing near-optimal preemptive and non-preemptive schedulers for task graphs.

Surfaceome: a new era in the discovery of immune evasion mechanisms of circulating tumor cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the era of immunotherapies, many patients either do not respond or eventually develop resistance. We propose to pave the way for proteomic analysis of surface‐expressed proteins called surfaceome, of circulating tumor cells. This approach seeks to identify immune evasion mechanisms and discover potential therapeutic targets. Circulating tumor cells (

On calculation of linear resource planning models for optimal project scheduling

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2008
Recent author's papers have shown new opportunities resulting from the treatment of resource planning in project scheduling as the optimization problem for a hybrid system.

MRSch: Multi-Resource Scheduling for HPC [PDF]

open access: yes
Emerging workloads in high-performance computing (HPC) are embracing significant changes, such as having diverse resource requirements instead of being CPU-centric. This advancement forces cluster schedulers to consider multiple schedulable resources during decision-making.

Circulating tumor cells in metastatic breast cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors – a biomarker analysis of the ALICE and ICON trials

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.

Space zoning concept-based scheduling model for repetitive construction process

open access: yesJournal of Civil Engineering and Management, 2013
Many researchers have studied effective space zoning to reduce the duration of a construction project and interference among work tasks. These studies, however, attempted to plan the construction schedule using the space zoning concept based on network ...

(m,k)-firm constraints and DBP scheduling: impact of the initial k-sequence and exact schedulability test [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
In this paper we study the scheduling of (m,k)-firm synchronous periodic task systems using the Distance Based Priority (DBP) scheduler. We first show three phenomena: (i) choosing, for each task, the initial k-sequence 1^k is not optimal, (ii) we can even start the scheduling from a (fictive) error state (in regard to the initial k-sequence) and (iii)

Circulating tumor cells: advancing personalized therapy in small cell lung cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive form of lung cancer that spreads rapidly to secondary sites such as the brain and liver. Cancer cells circulating in the blood, “circulating tumor cells” (CTCs), have demonstrated prognostic value in SCLC, and evaluating biomarkers on CTCs could guide treatment decisions such as for PARP inhibitors ...

Design citeria for applications with non-manifest loops [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
In the design process of high-throughput applications, design choices concerning the type of processor architecture and appropriate scheduling mechanism, have to be made.
