Vesicle-mediated Protein Transport Pathways to the Vacuole in Schizosaccharomyces pombe
The vacuole of Saccharomyces cerevisiae plays essential roles not only for osmoregulation and ion homeostasis but also down-regulation (degradation) of cell surface proteins and protein and organellar turnover. Genetic selections and genome-wide screens in S.

Identification of two forms of the Eso1 protein in Schizosaccharomyces pombe
Cell Biology International, 2014AbstractIn Schizosaccharomyces pombe, Eso1p is a protein fusion. Two‐thirds of its N‐terminus is conserved to budding yeast Rad30, which functions in error‐free replication of UV‐damaged DNA. A third of the C‐terminus is highly conserved to budding yeast Eco1, a lysine acetyltransferase, which is essential for the establishment of cohesion. Both Rad30p

Using Schizosaccharomyces pombe as a host for expression and purification of eukaryotic proteins
Gene, 1997We have established a eukaryotic protein expression and purification system by using the yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe as the host and the glutathione S-transferase (GST) as a protein purification tag. This system provides opportunities for rapid, inexpensive, and high yield production of proteins in a eukaryotic organism. Unlike E. coli, S.

Schizosaccharomyces pombe fragile mutants as a host for heterologous protein production
Journal of Biotechnology, 1997In order to gain information about the potential interest of the Schizosaccharomyces pombe srb 1 fragile mutants as a host for heterologous protein production, the extracellular secretion of homologous and heterologous invertases was investigated. Under catabolic derepression the fragile srb 1 mutants released into the extracellular medium 5-6-fold ...

Method for protein tagging in Schizosaccharomyces pombe.
Revista medico-chirurgicala a Societatii de Medici si Naturalisti din Iasi, 2007Tagging is a useful method for the investigation of proteins. It allows the localization of the proteins in the cell, their purification in order to investigate their function and the determination of their expression. The aim of the present study was to tag the Rad32 protein of fission yeast (which is the homologue of Mre11 protein from humans) at its

Intracellular vesicle trafficking is mediated by a set of SNARE proteins in eukaryotic cells. Several SNARE proteins are required for vacuolar protein transport and vacuolar biogenesis in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. A search of the Schizosaccharomyces pombe genome database revealed a total of 17 SNARE-related genes.

Characterization of Nrl1 protein in Schizosaccharomyces pombe
2016The fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe, is an ideal model organism to study eukaryotic cell biology as it is easy to manipulate while sharing many features in common with higher organisms like centromeres with repetitive sequences, large replication origins, conserved telomere proteins, conserved heterochromatin proteins and epigenetic silencing ...

AbstractA technique is described for the isolation and purification of intact, respiratory‐competent mitochondria from Sachizo‐saccharomyces pombe. The purified mitochondria are capabel of oxidizing NADH and succinate as resporatory substrates. indicating the presence of succinate dehydorgenase and an NADH dehydrogenase located on the outer suface of ...

Activation of the urease of SCHIZOSACCHAROMYCES POMBE by the UreF accessory protein from soybean
Molecular Genetics and Genomics, 2002Plant orthologs of the bacterial urease accessory genes ureD and ureF, which are required for the insertion of the nickel ion at the active site, have been isolated from soybean ( Glycine max L. Merr.), tomato ( Lycopersicon esculentum) and Arabidopsis thaliana.

Expression and Secretion of Mammalian Proteins in Schizosaccharomyces pombe
1997Saccharomyces cerevisiae is a widely used host for the expression of eukaryotic proteins. However, due to problems such as poor recognition of foreign signal sequences, improper processing and poor secretion, alternative eukaryotic expression systems such as Pichia pastoris have been recently developed.1 The fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe ...
