Sciatic Nerve Intraneural Hematoma

World Neurosurgery, 2019
Intraneural hematomas are an uncommon cause of a focal mononeuropathy. When they do occur, it is usually in the setting of inherited or iatrogenic coagulopathies or as a consequence of injections targeting nerves. We report a man aged 68 years on warfarin therapy for a prior pulmonary embolism who presented with a 6-month history of progressive ...

Sciatic nerve block

Techniques in Regional Anesthesia and Pain Management, 2006
The sciatic nerve is located deeply, is complex in its conformation, and is the largest single nerve of the body. Multiple and varied approaches are described for its blockade. It is preferably performed with a peripheral nerve stimulator seeking an adequate muscular response.

Traumatic sciatic nerve contusion

Journal of Back and Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, 2000
A case of isolated post-traumatic sciatic nerve contusion is reported, sustained after direct blunt trauma to the region of the buttock after a fall. Evaluation of this nerve injury not only included an EMG/ NCS, but also confirmatory evidence was obtained using the Minor's iodine-starch test to detect disturbances of sweat secretion.

Partial Sciatic Nerve Transection

2004
Partial sciatic nerve transection (PST) of the sciatic nerve of rats and mice is described as a model of painful neuropathy. The rationale for developing this model was to establish a simple partial nerve injury without application of foreign material.

Sciatic Nerve

2009
Abstract The L4–S3 Nerve roots form the sciatic nerve, which comprises both the peroneal and tibial nerves. The sciatic nerve is responsible for knee flexion and the actions of the lower extremity. As well, it provides sensory coverage to the posterior thigh, most of the lower leg, and the foot.

Sciatic Nerve Coaptation

2021
Training of nerve suturing techniques allows the novice surgeon to restore the structural and functional integrity of the nerves in clinical practice with greater confidence. The most practical model for training is a motor nerve with more than two fascicles.
