Identification of physicochemical properties of Scylla paramamosain allergen, arginin kinase
Journal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, 2012AbstractBACKGROUND: Arginine kinase (AK) is expressed in a wide variety of species, including human food sources (seafood) and pests (cockroaches and moths), and has been reported as a novel allergen. However, there has been little research on the allergenicity of AK in crustaceans.

Although the crab Scylla paramamosain has been cultured in China for a long time, little knowledge is available on how crabs respond to infection by bacteria. A forward suppression subtractive hybridization (SSH) cDNA library was constructed from their hemocytes and the up-regulated genes were identified in order to isolate differentially expressed ...

The p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases (MAPKs) are evolutionally conserved from yeasts to mammals, and are involved in the regulation of cells response to various extracellular stimuli. In this study, the p38 MAPK gene (designated as Spp38) of mud crab (Scylla paramamosain) was identified and studied.

Characterize a typically Dscam with alternative splicing in mud crab Scylla paramamosain
Fish & Shellfish Immunology, 2017As a member of the immunoglobulin superfamily, Down syndrome cell adhesion molecule (Dscam) could function in the innate immunity of invertebrates. Recently, it is shown that arthropod Dscams play similar functions as antibodies in the adaptive immune system.

Molecular cloning and characterization of crustin from mud crab Scylla paramamosain
Molecular Biology Reports, 2008Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are important components of the host innate immune response against microbial invasion. In the present study, we report the identification and characterization of a crustin (CrusSp) from the hemocyte of mud crab, Scylla paramamosain using an expressed sequence tag (EST) and rapid amplification cDNA end (RACE) approaches ...

Dietary protein requirement of juvenile mud crab Scylla paramamosain
Aquaculture, 2020Abstract This experiment was carried out to investigate the optimal dietary protein levels for juvenile Scylla paramamosain. Six isoenergtic and isolipidic semi-purified diets were formulated with graded protein levels, and the final protein concentrations were 32.69%, 38.54%, 42.92%, 49.89%, 52.09% and 60.07%, respectively.

Characterization of gonad differentially expressed SoxB2 genes in mud crab Scylla paramamosain
Gene, 2020Members of sox gene family play critical roles in development, and some of them have crucial functions in sexual dimorphism. To understand the role of two SoxB2 genes, Sox14b and Sox21 of mud crab Scylla paramamosain, the full-length 1939 bp SpSox14b cDNA sequence and 861 bp SpSox21 cDNA sequence were obtained from the crab's transcriptome database ...

Crustacean allergy is a significant health problem around the world, and tropomyosin (TM) represents the major allergen of crustaceans. The aim of this study was to evaluate three processing methods (boiling, CUB, HPS) and identify the one method that is most effective in the degradation of TM and reduction of its IgE-binding reactivity, and make it ...

Spätzle maintains homeostasis of hemolymph microbiota in Scylla paramamosain through Toll2
Fish & Shellfish ImmunologyThe Toll pathway is crucial for innate immune responses in organisms (including Drosophila and mammals). The Spätzle protein outside of cells acts as a ligand for Toll receptors, enabling the transfer of signals from outside the cell to the inside. However, the function of Spätzle in the immune system of mud crab (Scylla paramamosain) remains unclear ...
