Collision‐Resilient Winged Drones Enabled by Tensegrity Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Based on structures of birds such as the woodpeck, this article presents the collision‐resilient aerial robot, SWIFT. SWIFT leverages tensegrity structures in the fuselage and wings which allow it to undergo large deformations in a crash, without sustaining damage. Experiments show that SWIFT can reduce impact forces by 70% over conventional structures.

A Semi-Empirical Model Of Sea Clutter Based On Zero Memory Nonlinearity

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Based on the computer simulation technology of zero memory nonlinearity (ZMNL), this paper combines with the backscattering features of sea clutter and conducts simulation for four typical backscattering coefficient empirical models of sea clutter ...

Методы обнаружения малоразмерных малоподвижных целей на фоне интенсивного морского клатера [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
В роботі здійснюється пошук методів виявлення малорозмірних малорухомих цілей морськими РЛС. В результаті аналізу джерел обирається три перспективні групи методів – адаптивні методи, основані на представленні амплітуди клатера сферично інваріантним ...

TreeSpider: In‐Canopy Exploration With Tether‐Based Aerial Modular Arms

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A tethered drone with perching arms and a 360° ring enables unprecedented maneuverability within dense forest canopies. By dynamically adjusting tether length and decoupling pitch from the frame, it navigates between branches, senses multiple trees, and interacts physically with foliage.

A Novel Method for Sea-Land Clutter Separation Using Regularized Randomized and Kernel Ridge Neural Networks

open access: yesSensors, 2020
Classification of clutter, especially in the context of shore based radars, plays a crucial role in several applications. However, the task of distinguishing and classifying the sea clutter from land clutter has been historically performed using clutter ...

mRMR-Tri-ConcaveHull Detector for Floating Small Targets in Sea Clutter

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Selected Topics in Applied Earth Observations and Remote Sensing, 2023
For the feature-based detector of small targets in sea clutter, on the one hand, the three-dimensional convex hull-based detector deviates from the distribution of sea clutter vectors in the feature space and only combines the information of low ...

Multimodal Locomotion in Insect‐Inspired Microrobots: A Review of Strategies for Aerial, Surface, Aquatic, and Interfacial Motion

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This review identifies key design considerations for insect‐inspired microrobots capable of multimodal locomotion. To draw inspiration, biological and robotic strategies for moving in air, on water surfaces, and underwater are examined, along with approaches for crossing the air–water interface.
