Airborne Wind Vector Scatterometer for Sea Surface Measurements
This paper describes the development of an Airborne Wind Vector Scatterometer for low-resolution wind speed measurements. The scatterometer is designed to meet a wind speed accuracy requirement of 1 m/s. In this ad hoc and low-budget project, the development of the instrument exploited some already existing subsystems.

A robust simulation of tropical Pacific Ocean decadal‐scale zonal wind stress trends can increase the confidence in projections of global surface temperature and regional sea level rise, yet coupled general circulation models simulate weaker trends than ...

On the Coupling of Wind Stress and Sea Surface Temperature [PDF]
Abstract A simple quasi-equilibrium analytical model is used to explore hypotheses related to observed spatial correlations between sea surface temperatures and wind stress on horizontal scales of 50–500 km. It is argued that a plausible contributor to the observed correlations is the approximate linear relationship between the surface ...

Joint segmentation of wind speed and direction using a hierarchical model [PDF]
The problem of detecting changes in wind speed and direction is considered. Bayesian priors, with various degrees of certainty, are used to represent relationships between the two time series.

Wind amplifies the polar sea ice retreat
The rapid polar sea ice retreat and its drivers are challenging and still unresolved questions in climate change research. In particular, the relationship between near-surface wind speed and sea ice extent remains unclear for two main reasons: (1 ...

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
