A Neural Theory of Visual Search: Recursive Attention to Segmentations and Surfaces [PDF]
A neural theory is proposed in which visual search is accomplished by perceptual grouping and segregation, which occurs simultaneous across the visual field, and object recognition, which is restricted to a selected region of the field. The theory offers

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Neural architecture search applying optimal stopping theory
Neural architecture search (NAS) exploration requires tremendous amounts of computational power to properly explore. This makes exploration of modern NAS search spaces impractical for researchers due to the infrastructure investments required and the ...

In search of a nativist theory of second language acquisition
This article illustrates the search for a theory of second language acquisition. It is the task of the applied linguist to investigate any discipline which can shed light on this problem.

Dualities in all order finite N=1 gauge theories
We search for dual gauge theories of all-loop finite, N = 1 supersymmetric gauge theories. It is shown how to find explicitly the dual gauge theories of almost all chiral, N = 1, all-loop finite gauge theories, while several models have been discussed in

This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
