Biosynthesis of 2,3-epoxybrassinosteroids in seedlings of Secale cereale

open access: yesPhytochemistry, 2003
Two new brassinosteroids, (22R,23R,24S)-22,23-dihydroxy-24-methyl-5alpha-cholest-2-en-6-one (secasterol) and (22R,23R,24S)-22,23-dihydroxy-2alpha,3alpha-epoxy-24-methyl-5alpha-cholest-6-one (2,3-diepisecasterone) have been identified together with a known 2,3-epoxybrassinosteroid, secasterone, in seedlings of Secale cereale.

The anthocyanins of Secale cereale

Phytochemistry, 1969
Abstract Delphinidin-3-rutinoside was identified as the pigment in rye seeds. Cyanidin-3-rutinoside was detected in coleoptiles and cyanidin-3-glucoside in the first leaves.

Rye (Secale cereale L.)

2009
Rye (Secale cereale L.) is mainly a European cereal with about 75% of the global production growing in Russia, Belarus, Poland, Germany, and Ukraine. It has the best overwintering ability, and the highest tolerance to drought, salt, or aluminium stress from all small-grain cereals.

High mutability in rye (Secale cereale L.)

Mutation Research Letters, 1991
Analysis of the rye cultivar Ailés of several descents derived from crosses between plants carrying specific genotypes and/or chromosome constitutions resulted in the detection of high chromosome (2.05 x 10(-2)) and gene (9.3 x 10(-3)) mutation frequencies. The existence of a transposon system responsible for this instability is suggested.

Rye (Secale cereale L.)

Methods in molecular biology (Clifton, N.J.), 2006
Rye (Secale cereale L.) is one of the most recalcitrant plant species for tissue culture and genetic transformation. Embryogenic rye callus loses its ability to regenerate plants quickly in response to high density of Agrobacterium and other stressors.

Der Roggen (Secale cereale)

1928

Role of benzoxazinones in allelopathy by rye (Secale cereale L.)

Journal of Chemical Ecology, 1987
Two phytotoxic compounds [2,4-dihydroxy-1,4(2H)-benzoxazin-3-one (DIBOA) and 2(3H)-benzoxazolinone (BOA)] were previously isolated and identified in 35-day-old greenhouse-grown rye shoot tissue. Both compounds were also detected by TLC in greenhouse-grown root and fieldgrown shoot tissue.
