Explicit Exact Solutions of the (2+1)-Dimensional Integro-Differential Jaulent–Miodek Evolution Equation Using the Reliable Methods

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2020
In this article, we utilize the G′/G2-expansion method and the Jacobi elliptic equation method to analytically solve the (2 + 1)-dimensional integro-differential Jaulent–Miodek equation for exact solutions.

Implicit Total Variation Diminishing (TVD) schemes for steady-state calculations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1983
The application of a new implicit unconditionally stable high resolution total variation diminishing (TVD) scheme to steady state calculations. It is a member of a one parameter family of explicit and implicit second order accurate schemes developed by ...

Some symmetry classifications of hyperbolic vector evolution equations

open access: yes, 2005
Motivated by recent work on integrable flows of curves and 1+1 dimensional sigma models, several O(N)-invariant classes of hyperbolic equations $u_{tx} =f(u,u_t,u_x)$ for an $N$-component vector $u(t,x)$ are considered.

Helix Alignment, Chevrons, and Edge Dislocations in Twist‐Bend Ferroelectric Nematics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The recently discovered twist‐bend ferroelectric nematic (NTBF) is the new member of the multiferroic family, representing a fluid with an oblique helicoidal (heliconical) periodic structure of spontaneous electric polarization. The work presents a thorough exploration of the material properties of this phase, how the periodic modulation of ...

Nonparaxial elliptic waves and solitary waves in coupled nonlinear Helmholtz equations

open access: yes, 2015
We obtain a class of elliptic wave solutions of coupled nonlinear Helmholtz (CNLH) equations describing nonparaxial ultra-broad beam propagation in nonlinear Kerr-like media, in terms of the Jacobi elliptic functions and also discuss their limiting forms

Hierarchical Artificial Muscle with Nonlinear Elasticity for Antagonistic and Cyclic Robotics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We construct hierarchical muscles by plying nylon fibers around a heating wire. The hierarchical muscle shows a J‐shaped passive curve, which shows benefit in antagonistic muscle pair and work accumulation mechanism. We also develop a computational, first‐principle model to understand the physics of both active actuation stroke and passive J‐curve ...

Existence and uniqueness of solutions for a second-order nonlinear hyperbolic system

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2011
We study the existence, uniqueness and asymptotic behaviour of solutions to a second-order nonlinear hyperbolic system of equations. The spatial variable is in the positive half-axis.

Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models for Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cancer immunotherapy faces challenges in predicting treatment responses and understanding resistance mechanisms. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) offer powerful solutions for cancer immunotherapy in patient stratification, biomarker discovery, treatment strategy optimization, and foundation model development.

On numerical methods for one problem of mixed type

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2001
This article is devoted to further investigation of numerical methods for one differential problem of mixed type. We consider a two‐dimensional first‐order differential equation with one complex‐valued and one real constant coefficients.

Optimal Grazing Exclusion Duration to Enhance Soil Carbon Sequestration in Degraded Grasslands

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Across China, grazing exclusion reaches the national mean soil organic carbon recovery benchmark sooner in high‐MAP regions (> 500 mm), but recovery is much slower where MAP < 300 mm. Scaling this strategy to 70% of China's degraded grasslands would sequester about 1.52 Pg of soil carbon over 10 years—roughly 17% of annual global fossil‐fuel emissions.
