A Generalized Ginzburg-Landau Approach to Second Harmonic Generation
We develop a generalized Ginzburg-Landau theory for second harmonic generation (SHG) in magnets by expanding the free energy in terms of the order parameter in the magnetic phase and the susceptibility tensor in the corresponding high-temperature phase ...

ABSTRACT Electronic waste has emerged as a major environmental challenge, driven by the massive consumption and a limited lifetime of modern electronic devices, stimulating the development of sustainable electronics. Here, an all‐biomaterial gelatin‐choline‐citric acid ([Ch][CA]) ionogel is developed as an active binder to realize self‐sintered ...

On-chip polarization rotator for type I second harmonic generation
We demonstrate a polarization rotator integrated at the output of a GaAs waveguide producing type I second harmonic generation (SHG). Form-birefringent phase matching between the pump fundamental transverse electric (TE) mode near 2.0 µm wavelength and ...

Symmetry selective third harmonic generation from plasmonic metacrystals
Nonlinear processes are often governed by selection rules imposed by the symmetries of the molecular configurations. The most well-known examples include the role of mirror symmetry breaking for the generation of even harmonics, and the selection rule ...

We present a fully automated Bayesian optimization (BO) protocol for the parameterization of nonbonded interactions in coarse‐grain CG force fields (BACH). Using experimental thermophysical data, we apply the protocol to a broad range of liquids, spanning linear, branched, and unsaturated hydrocarbons, esters, triglycerides, and water.

Nanodiamond Quantum Sensors for Probing Free Radical Biology
Free radicals play key roles in cellular signaling and disease but remain difficult to measure in living systems. Nanodiamonds (NDs) with nitrogen‐vacancy (NV) centers enable quantum sensing of local magnetic noise via T₁ relaxometry, providing nondestructive radical detection in living cells.

Arbitrary orbital angular momentum addition in second harmonic generation
We demonstrate second harmonic generation performed with optical vortices with different topological charges imprinted on orthogonal polarizations. Besides the intuitive charge doubling, we implement arbitrary topological charge addition on the second ...

Interphase chemistry governs the stability of multivalent metal batteries. We summarize state‐of‐the‐art developments in calcium and magnesium metal batteries by focusing on the correlation among electrolytes, interphase layers, and the electrochemical performance of corresponding metal anodes.

Metasurface-assisted phase-matching-free second harmonic generation in lithium niobate waveguides
Phase matching is a crucial condition for nonlinear optical processes. Here, Wang et al. demonstrate that a gradient metasurface composed of phased array antennas allows phase-matching-free frequency conversion over a pump wavelength range of almost 100 ...
