Second-harmonic generation of polarization singularities
Optics Letters, 2002Second-harmonic generation was studied theoretically for the vector singularities (daisy modes) of linearly polarized light and for the elliptic singularities (C points) of elliptically polarized light. Topological charge doubling for C points and daisy modes, similar to that found for vortices, was found.

Simple model of second-harmonic generation
Physical Review B, 1992A model for second-harmonic generation from materials with inversion symmetry is developed. The reflecting medium is treated as an ordered array of localized, polarizable entities and the self-consistent relations between induced multipole moments and local fields are derived.

In optical second-harmonic generation coherent optical radiation of frequency 2ω is generated, through the use of a medium with the appropriate nonlinear susceptibility, from incident coherent optical radiation of frequency ω. For the process to take place efficiently, the phase matching condition (colinear geometry) $$ k(2\omega ) = 2k(\omega ) $$

Near-field second-harmonic generation
Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London. Series A: Mathematical, Physical and Engineering Sciences, 2004Near-field microscopy of second-harmonic generation combines high surface sensitivity of the nonlinear optical process and high spatial resolution of the near-field optics. It enables investigation of nonlinear optical phenomena at the nanoscale and provides an opportunity to develop a highly sensitive optical technique for materials characterization ...

Optimization of second-harmonic generation microscopy
Micron, 2001We describe the principles and characteristics of second-harmonic generation imaging (SHGI) and explore various methods for optimization of the technique. Second-harmonic imaging is optimized for ultrashort laser pulses, high numerical aperture microscope objectives, a highly sensitive non-descanned large area detector, pseudo-phase-matching, and ...

Oscillations and quantized second-harmonic generation
Physical Review A, 1988We investigate quantum-mechanical second-harmonic generation for parameters such that classical electrodynamics predicts oscillations. Specifically we calculate the Q distribution function in a Gaussian approximation about the classical limit cycle. In the classical limit initial rapid collapse of the Q distribution into the neighborhood of the limit ...
