Secondary damage to hair follicles in full thickness skin autografts
Archiv f�r Dermatologische Forschung, 1974The hair root pattern in full-thickness skin autografts in guinea pigs was evaluated on the basis of findings in a total of 34 grafts. Between the 4th and 12th day after surgery the proportion of anagen hairs was found elevated and increasing in all cases.

Repair of a skin wound usually leads to a scar while regeneration implies fully recovery of function and structure of the damaged tissue. Adult skin wound usually heals with scar while fetal skin heals scarless.

The cause of primary and secondary damage to hair follicles on full thickness skin autografts
Archiv f�r Dermatologische Forschung, 1974Heat loss by radiation and conduction and oxygen release were measured on full thickness skin autografts in 46 guinea pigs on the seventh postoperative day. Using the same animals, the amount of hair on the graft was determined 3 months after surgery.
