Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1999The deamidation reactions of asparagine residues in alpha-helical and beta-turn secondary structural environments of peptides and proteins are reviewed. Both kinds of secondary structure tend to stabilize asparagine residues against deamidation, although the effects are not large.

Similarity of RNA secondary structures

We first transform an RNA secondary structure into a special sequence representation. Then, on the basis of symbolic sequence complexity, we obtain the relative distance of RNA secondary structures.
