Secretin☆

2003
Secretin, a 27-amino-acid peptide hormone produced by intestinal S cells, is released into the duodenum primarily in response to pH changes following food ingestion. Its major target organs include the pancreas, stomach, and gallbladder. Secretin affects pancreatic bicarbonate secretion, gastric acid secretion, and motility and augmentation of bile ...

Different actions of secretin and Gly-extended secretin predict secretin receptor subtypes

American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology, 2001
Only one secretin receptor has been cloned and its properties characterized in native and transfected cells. To test the hypothesis that stimulatory and inhibitory effects of secretin are mediated by different secretin receptor subtypes, pancreatic and gastric secretory responses to secretin and secretin-Gly were determined in rats.

Secretin.

The Hospital
Abstract Secretin is a gastrointestinal hormone and neuropeptide, with pleiotropic effects in a range of biological systems. In the late 1990s, secretin was reported to improve language and social skills in three autistic children. This initial case report was followed by a dramatic uptake of secretin as a therapeutic agent for autistic ...
