Background Cytotoxic cells of the immune system have evolved a lysosomal compartment to store and mobilize effector molecules. In T lymphocytes and NK cells, the death factor FasL is one of the characteristic marker proteins of these so-called secretory ...

Prostate cancer remains a leading cause of male cancer death, yet screening cannot reliably identify aggressive disease, underscoring the need for tissue biomarkers. It is shown that primary tumors increase ER–plasma membrane junction signaling via STIM1/ORP5, whereas metastasis features their loss, Golgi dispersal, and rapid conversion of high‐mannose

Central pancreatectomy (CP) better preserves postoperative pancreatic endocrine function than distal pancreatectomy for benign or low‐grade malignant tumors. The 75‐g oral glucose tolerance test demonstrated that CP maintained insulin secretion and glucose tolerance, highlighting its clinical advantage as a function‐preserving procedure.

Secretory Vesicle Clustering in Fungal Filamentous Cells Does Not Require Directional Growth
Summary: During symmetry breaking, the highly conserved Rho GTPase Cdc42 becomes stabilized at a defined site via an amplification process. However, little is known about how a new polarity site is established in an already asymmetric cell—a critical ...

ABSTRACT Background Pseudomonas aeruginosa is an opportunistic pathogen in cystic fibrosis‐related chronic rhinosinusitis (CF‐CRS) that produces phenazine metabolites pyocyanin and 1‐hydroxyphenazine (1‐HP), which may have detrimental effects on mitochondria, reactive oxygen species (ROS), Ca2+ signaling, and apoptosis.

Uncovering Cystic Fibrosis Carrier: Insights From a Heterozygous CFTR‐F508del Rabbit Model
ABSTRACT Background Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) is a heterogeneous inflammatory disorder frequently associated with impaired mucociliary clearance and bacterial infection. Individuals carrying a single cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) mutation exhibit partial CFTR dysfunction and are increasingly recognized as being at risk ...

Construction of pathogenic Sec16a mutation mouse model using CRISPR/Cas9
Yaqiang Hu et al. engineered a pathogenic Sec16a mutant mouse model using CRISPR/Cas9 technology. They observed that the Sec16a mutant mice displayed diminished learning and memory capabilities, along with a limb‐clasping phenotype upon tail suspension.

The assembly of RAB22A/TMEM33/RTN4 initiates a secretory ER-phagy pathway
Rafeesome, a newly identified multivesicular body (MVB)-like organelle, forms through the fusion of RAB22A-mediated ER-derived noncanonical autophagosomes with RAB22A-positive early endosomes.

HID-1 is required for homotypic fusion of immature secretory granules during maturation
Secretory granules, also known as dense core vesicles, are generated at the trans-Golgi network and undergo several maturation steps, including homotypic fusion of immature secretory granules (ISGs) and processing of prehormones to yield active peptides.
