The effect of optimism bias and governmental action on siltation management within Japanese reservoirs surveyed via artificial neural network

open access: yesBig Earth Data, 2020
Reservoirs are installed as long-term assets to guarantee water and energy security for decades, if not centuries. However, the effect of siltation undermines reservoirs’ sustainability because it significantly reduces the reservoirs’ original capacity ...

Hyperuniformity with no fine tuning in sheared sedimenting suspensions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Particle suspensions, present in many natural and industrial settings, typically contain aggregates or other microstructures that can complicate macroscopic flow behaviors and damage processing equipment.

Chemoresistome mapping in individual breast cancer patients unravels diversity in dynamic transcriptional adaptation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study used longitudinal transcriptomics and gene‐pattern classification to uncover patient‐specific mechanisms of chemotherapy resistance in breast cancer. Findings reveal preexisting drug‐tolerant states in primary tumors and diverse gene rewiring patterns across patients, converging on a few dysregulated functional modules. Despite receiving the

Tonic signaling of the B‐cell antigen‐specific receptor is a common functional hallmark in chronic lymphocytic leukemia cell phosphoproteomes at early disease stages

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
B‐cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia (B‐CLL) and monoclonal B‐cell lymphocytosis (MBL) show altered proteomes and phosphoproteomes, analyzed using mass spectrometry, protein microarrays, and western blotting. Identifying 2970 proteins and 316 phosphoproteins, including 55 novel phosphopeptides, we reveal BCR and NF‐kβ/STAT3 signaling in disease ...

Assessing Differences in Groundwater Hydrology Dynamics Between In Situ Measurements and GRACE-Derived Estimates via Machine Learning: A Test Case of Consequences for Agroecological Relationships Within the Yazoo–Mississippi Delta (USA)

open access: yesHydrology
In situ groundwater monitoring is critical for irrigated agroecosystems and informs land cover changes. Yet, such data can pose management challenges and confound agroecological relationships.

Dynamical demixing of a binary mixture under sedimentation

open access: yes, 2018
We investigate the sedimentation dynamics of a binary mixture, the species of which differ by their Stokes coefficients but are identical otherwise. We analyze the sedimentation dynamics and the morphology of the final deposits using Brownian dynamics ...

Phase stacking diagram of colloidal mixtures under gravity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The observation of stacks of distinct layers in a colloidal or liquid mixture in sedimentation-diffusion equilibrium is a striking consequence of bulk phase separation.

Detecting homologous recombination deficiency for breast cancer through integrative analysis of genomic data

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study develops a semi‐supervised classifier integrating multi‐genomic data (1404 training/5893 validation samples) to improve homologous recombination deficiency (HRD) detection in breast cancer. Our method demonstrates prognostic value and predicts chemotherapy/PARP inhibitor sensitivity in HRD+ tumours.
