Slow sedimentation and deformability of charged lipid vesicles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The study of vesicles in suspension is important to understand the complicated dynamics exhibited by cells in vivo and in vitro. We developed a computer simulation based on the boundary-integral method to model the three dimensional gravity-driven ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

An Estimation Method of River Dry Runoff Alteration after Upper New Reservoirs Storage

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The impact of reservoirs on downstream river hydrological characteristics is always a focal point in relevant studies exploring the relationship between rivers and dams. Anticipating river runoff patterns following the construction of new dams is crucial

A study of a quasilinear model of the particles of a suspension that are aggregated and settled in an inhomogeneous field

open access: yesVisnik Harkivsʹkogo Nacionalʹnogo Universitetu im. V.N. Karazina. Cepiâ Matematika, Prikladna Matematika i Mehanika, 2020
The mathematical model of the sedimentation process of suspension particles is usually a quasilinear hyperbolic system of partial differential equations, supplemented by initial and boundary conditions.

Interaction of HS1BP3 with cortactin modulates TKS5 localisation, cell secretion and cancer malignancy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Here, we demonstrate that HS1BP3 interacts with Cortactin through a proline‐rich region (PRR3.1) and show that this interaction, and HS1BP3 itself, promote cancer cell proliferation and invasion. Inhibition of this interaction leads to build‐up of TKS5 in multivesicular endosomes and altered secretion of CD63 and CD9, providing an explanation for the ...

EFFECTIVE SEDIMENT CONTROL IN A RESERVOIR [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Sedimentation in a reservoir cannot be avoided. The average rate of sedimentation on the storage volume reduction of a reservoir in the world is about 1 % per year (Yoon,1992), meanwhile, the storage volume reduction in several reservoir in Indonesia ...

Chiral sedimentation of extended objects in viscous media [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We study theoretically the chirality of a generic rigid object's sedimentation in a fluid under gravity in the low Reynolds number regime. We represent the object as a collection of small Stokes spheres or stokeslets, and the gravitational force as a ...

Metastasis on pause: How dormant tumor cells stay hidden within the tumor microenvironment and evade immune surveillance

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dormant cancer cells can hide in distant organs for years, evading treatment and the immune system. This review highlights how signals from the surrounding tissue and immune environment keep these cells inactive or trigger their reawakening. Understanding these mechanisms may help develop therapies to eliminate or control dormant cells and prevent ...

Research progress on the failure mechanism of ecological slope protection under multi-factor coupling in the Lower Yellow River

open access: yesShui kexue jinzhan
The Yellow River basin is of critical strategic importance to China's economic and social development. The lower reaches are characterized by low flow rates and high sediment concentrations, exhibiting an uncoordinated water-sediment relationship.

Elastohydrodynamics of a sliding, spinning and sedimenting cylinder near a soft wall

open access: yes, 2015
We consider the motion of a fluid-immersed negatively buoyant particle in the vicinity of a thin compressible elastic wall, a situation that arises in a variety of technological and natural settings.
