Polymerase chain reaction methods (PCR) in agrobiotechnology [PDF]

open access: yesSelekcija i Semenarstvo, 2006
The agricultural biotechnology applies polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology at numerous steps throughout product development. The major uses of PCR technology during product development include gene discovery and cloning, vector construction ...

Balancing Speed and Coverage by Sequential Seeding in Complex Networks [PDF]

open access: yesScientific Reports 7:891, April 18, 2017, 2016
Information spreading in complex networks is often modeled as diffusing information with certain probability from nodes that possess it to their neighbors that do not. Information cascades are triggered when the activation of a set of initial nodes (seeds) results in diffusion to large number of nodes. Here, several novel approaches for seed initiation

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

The Seed Order

open access: yes, 2017
This paper introduces the seed order, a partial order of the class of uniform countably complete ultrafilters that generalizes the Mitchell order on normal measures. Like that order, the seed order is consistently a linear ordering even under strong large cardinal assumptions. In fact, the linearity of the seed order is a feature of all known canonical

The roles and applications of extracellular vesicles in cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are minute versions of cells limited by a lipid bilayer containing cytoplasm from the cell that releases them, but without a nucleus and thus unable to self‐reproduce. EVs contain multiple molecules (proteins, lipids, glycans, and nucleic acids) they can induce complex responses in cells.

Unsound Seeds

open access: yes, 2019
With this image of a curtain hiding and at the same time heightening some terrible secret, Max Kalbeck began his review of the first Viennese performance of Richard Strauss’s Salome. Theodor W. Adorno picked up the image of the curtain in the context of Strauss’s fabled skill at composing non-musical events, when he identified the opening flourish of ...

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Moisture-dependent physical properties of melon (Citrullus colocynthis lanatus) seed and kernel relevant in bulk handling

open access: yesCogent Food & Agriculture, 2015
In order to design equipment for improved processing of melon (Citrullus colocynthis lanatus) seed and kernel, some of the engineering properties need to be determined as a function of moisture content.
