Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Automated End-to-End Deep Learning Framework for Complex Multiclass Brassica Seed Classification

open access: yesSeeds
Agricultural research has accelerated in recent years, but farmers often lack the time and resources to conduct on-farm experiments, as most of their efforts are devoted to crop production. Seed classification provides essential insights for seed quality

Transportation Oil Demand Consumer Preferences and Asymmetric Price Responses: Some UK Evidence [PDF]

open access: yes
The aim of this paper is to (i) establish the role of asymmetric price decompositions in UK road transportation fuel demand, (ii) make explicit the impact of the underlying energy demand trend and (iii) disaggregate the estimation for gasoline and diesel

An evaluation of osmotic pre-sowing seed treatments as a potential method for improving the germination performance of Pinus radiata D. Don seeds : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Agricultural Science in Seed Technology at Massey University [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
This study was conducted lo characterise optimum conditions for osmotic pre-sowing treatment as an effective means of improving the germination and/or emergence performance of Pinus radiata from different seed grades.

LINC01116, a hypoxia‐lncRNA marker of pathological lymphangiogenesis and poor prognosis in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LINC01116 long noncoding RNA is induced by hypoxia and associated with poor prognosis and high recurrence rates in two cohorts of lung adenocarcinoma patients. Here, we demonstrate that besides its expression in cancer cells, LINC01116 is markedly expressed in lymphatic endothelial cells of the tumor stroma in which it participates in hypoxia ...

Hot-Air Drying Temperature Affects Physiological Performance and Cyto(geno)toxic Endpoints in Soybean Seeds

open access: yesSeeds
Soybeans are widely used in agro-industrial sectors, and global demand for this crop continues to rise. After harvest, however, soybean seeds often lack the appropriate moisture content for storage, making drying a common practice under changing climate ...

Non-linear technological progress and the substitutability of energy for capital: an application using the translog cost function. [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper analyses the production process of four industries over four separate time periods using datasets taken form Berndt and Wood (1975, 1979), Hunt (1984a, 1986), Norsworthy and Harper (1981) and Jorgensen and Stiroh (2000). In their initial paper

ATF4‐mediated stress response as a therapeutic vulnerability in chordoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We screened 5 chordoma cell lines against 100+ inhibitors of epigenetic and metabolic pathways and kinases and identified halofuginone, a tRNA synthetase inhibitor. Mechanistically halofuginone induces an integrated stress response, with eIF2alpha phosphorylation, activation of ATF4 and its target genes CHOP, ASNS, INHBE leading to cell death ...

Metabolic Dynamics of Primary Reserves During Germination and Early Growth of Cultivated Brazil Nut Tree Genotypes

open access: yesSeeds
Given the reduced resilience of the Amazon rainforest due to deforestation, identifying high-quality genetic markers for the propagation of native species is crucial for forest regeneration.
