Learning Pixel Representations for Generic Segmentation [PDF]
Deep learning approaches to generic (non-semantic) segmentation have so far been indirect and relied on edge detection. This is in contrast to semantic segmentation, where DNNs are applied directly. We propose an alternative approach called Deep Generic Segmentation (DGS) and try to follow the path used for semantic segmentation.

Linear segmentation of discrete curves into blurred segments
The concept of fuzzy segment is introduced, it allows the flexible segmentation of discrete curves, taking into account noise. Relying on an arithmetic definition of discrete lines [Réveilles 1991], it generalizes such lines, admitting that some points are missing. Thus, a larger class of objects is considered.

Combining melting curve analysis enhances the multiplexing capability of digital PCR. Here, we developed a 14‐plex assay to simultaneously measure single nucleotide mutations and amplifications of KRAS and GNAS, which are common driver genes in pancreatic cancer precursors. This assay accurately quantified variant allele frequencies in clinical samples

Integrating ancestry, differential methylation analysis, and machine learning, we identified robust epigenetic signature genes (ESGs) and Core‐ESGs in Black and White women with endometrial cancer. Core‐ESGs (namely APOBEC1 and PLEKHG5) methylation levels were significantly associated with survival, with tumors from high African ancestry (THA) showing ...

Application of Template Matching for Improving Classification of Urban Railroad Point Clouds
This study develops an integrated data-driven and model-driven approach (template matching) that clusters the urban railroad point clouds into three classes of rail track, contact cable, and catenary cable.

There is an unmet need in metastatic breast cancer patients to monitor therapy response in real time. In this study, we show how a noninvasive and affordable strategy based on sequencing of plasma samples with longitudinal tracking of tumour fraction paired with a statistical model provides valuable information on treatment response in advance of the ...

TGGLines: A Robust Topological Graph Guided Line Segment Detector for Low Quality Binary Images [PDF]
Line segment detection is an essential task in computer vision and image analysis, as it is the critical foundation for advanced tasks such as shape modeling and road lane line detection for autonomous driving. We present a robust topological graph guided approach for line segment detection in low quality binary images (hence, we call it TGGLines). Due
