Abstract How crustal deformation responds to complex mantle flow in continental back‐arc settings remains poorly constrained. Here, we develop a Bayesian working‐likelihood approach to estimate crust‐averaged azimuthal anisotropy from P‐wave receiver functions. The method separates crust‐averaged velocity anisotropy from dip‐related apparent anisotropy

Fully probabilistic seismic source inversion – Part 2: Modelling errors and station covariances [PDF]
Seismic source inversion, a central task in seismology, is concerned with the estimation of earthquake source parameters and their uncertainties. Estimating uncertainties is particularly challenging because source inversion is a non-linear problem.

Very‐Long‐Period Seismic Signals During Lateral Dike Propagation at Piton de La Fournaise Volcano
Abstract We report a previously undocumented sequence of very long period (VLP) signals preceding the September 2022 eruption at Piton de la Fournaise. These events occurred during lateral magma propagation and exhibit quasi‐periodic sawtooth‐shaped displacement transients.

ABSTRACT In February 2023, a comprehensive series of shaking table tests were conducted at the E‐Defense facility, the world's largest three‐dimensional earthquake simulator, on a full‐scale 10‐story steel moment‐resisting frame supplemented with BRBs.

This study presents physics‐based, 3D simulations using the EQSIM framework for several earthquakes in the Los Angeles region. The primary objective was to assess the ability of deterministic physics‐based ground motion simulations to reproduce the observed motions from historical events.

High-Resolution Subsurface Characterization Using Seismic Inversion—Methodology and Examples
Subsurface characterization for lithological and fluid properties is important for all aspects of geophysical exploration where estimating a high-resolution elastic property through seismic inversion is vital.

We applied a wave-equation based adjoint wavefield method for seismic illumination and resolution analyses. A two-way wave-equation is used to calculate directional and diffracted energy fluxes for waves propagating between sources and receivers to the ...
