Trade-off between exploration and exploitation with genetic algorithm using a novel selection operator

open access: yesComplex & Intelligent Systems, 2019
As an intelligent search optimization technique, genetic algorithm (GA) is an important approach for non-deterministic polynomial (NP-hard) and complex nature optimization problems.

Adjunctive Therapeutic Plasma Exchange in Refractory Adult‐Onset Still's Disease Complicated by Secondary Macrophage Activation Syndrome: A Single‐Center Experience

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Adult‐onset Still's disease (AOSD) complicated by macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) carries substantial mortality. The role of therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) remains uncertain. Methods We retrospectively analyzed patients with AOSD‐MAS treated with TPE at a single‐center.

Evolutionary Schema of Modeling Based on Genetic Algorithms

open access: yesStudies in Logic, Grammar and Rhetoric, 2015
In this paper, I propose a populational schema of modeling that consists of: (a) a linear AFSV schema (with four basic stages of abstraction, formalization, simplification, and verification), and (b) a higher-level schema employing the genetic algorithm (

A new genetic algorithm for multi-label correlation-based feature selection. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper proposes a new Genetic Algorithm for Multi-Label Correlation-Based Feature Selection (GA-ML-CFS). This GA performs a global search in the space of candidate feature subset, in order to select a high-quality feature subset is used by a multi ...

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

GCMD: Genetic Correlation Multi-Domain Virtual Network Embedding Algorithm

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2021
With the increase of network scale and the complexity of network structure, the problems of traditional Internet have emerged. At the same time, the appearance of network function virtualization (NFV) and network virtualization technologies has largely ...

Full model selection in the space of data mining operators [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We propose a framework and a novel algorithm for the full model selection (FMS) problem. The proposed algorithm, combining both genetic algorithms (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO), is named GPS (which stands for GAPSO-FMS), in which a GA is ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Information gain directed genetic algorithm wrapper feature selection for credit rating

open access: yesApplied Soft Computing, 2018
Financial credit scoring is one of the most crucial processes in the finance industry sector to be able to assess the credit-worthiness of individuals and enterprises. Various statistics-based machine learning techniques have been employed for this task.

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).
