Modelling of a Roulette Wheel Selection Operator in Genetic Algorithms Using Generalized Nets [PDF]

open access: yesBioautomation, 2009
The apparatus of Generalized Nets (GN) is applied here to a description of a selection operator, which is one of the basic genetic algorithm operators. The GN model presented here describes roulette wheel selection.

A Selection Process for Genetic Algorithm Using Clustering Analysis

open access: yesAlgorithms, 2017
This article presents a newly proposed selection process for genetic algorithms on a class of unconstrained optimization problems. The k-means genetic algorithm selection process (KGA) is composed of four essential stages: clustering, membership phase ...

Network assisted analysis to reveal the genetic basis of autism

open access: yes, 2015
While studies show that autism is highly heritable, the nature of the genetic basis of this disorder remains illusive. Based on the idea that highly correlated genes are functionally interrelated and more likely to affect risk, we develop a novel ...

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Feature Selection for Image Retrieval based on Genetic Algorithm

open access: yesInternational Journal of Interactive Multimedia and Artificial Intelligence, 2016
This paper describes the development and implementation of feature selection for content based image retrieval. We are working on CBIR system with new efficient technique. In this system, we use multi feature extraction such as colour, texture and shape.

An efficient methodology for discovering both of gene-environment interactions and gene-gene interactions causing genetic diseases

open access: yesEgyptian Informatics Journal, 2020
Genetic diseases are one of the most critical diseases facing human societies, their risk lies in the transmission of genetic characteristics from one generation to another, where the imbalance of these characteristics leads to an unhealthy offspring ...

Hybrid genetic algorithm for dual selection [PDF]

open access: yesPattern Analysis and Applications, 2007
Ce travail présente un algorithme génétique hybride pour résoudre le problème suivant : sélectionner dans une base d'exemples le sous ensemble qui présente la meilleure performance en classification avec le plus petit nombre d'attributs pour le plus grand nombre d'exemples.

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...

Improving PARP inhibitor efficacy in bladder cancer without genetic BRCAness by combination with PLX51107

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Clinical trials on PARP inhibitors in urothelial carcinoma (UC) showed limited efficacy and a lack of predictive biomarkers. We propose SLFN5, SLFN11, and OAS1 as UC‐specific response predictors. We suggest Talazoparib as the better PARP inhibitor for UC than Olaparib.
