Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Field Theory of Propagating Reaction-Diffusion Fronts

open access: yes, 2004
The problem of velocity selection of reaction-diffusion fronts has been widely investigated. While the mean field limit results are well known theoretically, there is a lack of analytic progress in those cases in which fluctuations are to be taken into ...

Automating first-principles phase diagram calculations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Devising a computational tool that assesses the thermodynamic stability of materials is among the most important steps required to build a “virtual laboratory,” where materials could be designed from first principles without relying on experimental input.

Quark selection principle

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 1970
Abstract A selection principle that permits only the observed combinations of quarks to exist as well-separated clusters, is formulated in terms of a boundary condition on the many-particle wave function. Calculated quantities are in reasonable agreement with experiment.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Selection of building materials based upon ecological characteristics: priorities in function of environmental protection [PDF]

open access: yesSpatium, 2009
Numerous scientific researches show that the activities connected with building materials produce significant negative environmental effects. Observed from the point of architecture, the use of building materials is found to be one of the ...

Selective Games on Binary Relations [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We present a unified approach, based on dominating families in binary relations, for the study of topological properties defined in terms of selection principles and the games associated to them.Comment: 28 ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
