Approximating the dynamical evolution of systems of strongly-interacting overdamped particles

open access: yes, 2011
We describe collective-move Monte Carlo algorithms designed to approximate the overdamped dynamics of self-assembling nanoscale components equipped with strong, short-ranged and anisotropic interactions.

Self-assembly properties of primitive organic compounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
A central event in the origin of life was the self-assembly of amphiphilic compounds into closed microenvironments. If a primitive macromolecular replicating system could be encapsulated within a vesicular membrane, the components of the system would share the same microenvironment, representing a step toward indivuality and true cellular function.
