Self-assembled electrical circuits and their electronic properties
Faraday Discuss., 2006A straightforward method for the self assembly of single walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) between gold electrodes was developed. The technique utilizes the hybridization between short complementary DNA sequences located on metal contacts and SWNTs. new technique enables simple production of hundreds of devices with high yields.

Self-Assemblies of Nanocrystals
Applied Surface Science, 2001Fabrication of silver sulfide, silver and cobalt nanocrystals self organized in 2D and 3D superlattices is described. The physical properties (optic or magnetic) of nanocrystals either isolated or self organized are compared. Collective properties are observed when particles are arranged in 2D and 3D superlattices.

Self-assembly and biophysical properties of archaeal lipids
Emerging Topics in Life Sciences, 2022Archaea constitute one of the three fundamental domains of life. Archaea possess unique lipids in their cell membranes which distinguish them from bacteria and eukaryotes. This difference in lipid composition is referred to as ‘Lipid Divide' and its origins remain elusive.

Molecular Modeling of Phenothiazine Derivatives: Self-Assembling Properties
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2010This study aims to present a detailed theoretical investigation of noncovalent intermolecular interactions between different π-π stacking phenothiazine derivatives and between different alkane chains varying from propane to decane. Second-order Møller-Plesset perturbation (MP2), coupled cluster (CC), and density functional (DFT) theories were the ...

Self-Assembly of Hydrogensquarates: Crystal Structures and Properties
The Journal of Physical Chemistry A, 2009The self-assembly of the hydrogensquarates is elucidated by means of linear-polarized infrared (IR-LD) spectroscopy of oriented colloids in nematic host and the so-called reducing-difference procedure for polarized IR-LD spectra interpretation. The scopes and limitation are discussed on five novel derivatives of squaric acid and its anions, that is, 2 ...

Mechanical properties of self-assembled chitin nanofiber networks
J. Mater. Chem. B, 2014Chitin nanofibers are structural components of the insect cuticle, the exoskeleton of crabs, and mollusk shells. Chitin nanofibers have found broad use in biomedical applications. Here, we study structure-properties-processing relationships of 3 nm chitin nanofiber networks self-assembled from a chitin hexafluoroisopropanol solution.

Spectral properties of self-assembled squaraine–tetralactam: a theoretical assessment
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2009Using several theoretical approaches relying on the time-dependent density functional theory, we have computed the electronic spectrum in the visible range of a squaraine dye, either isolated or embedded into a tetralactam macrocycle. The amplitude of the bathochromic displacement induced by the complexation is well-reproduced by the most accurate ...

Magnetic properties of self-assembled interacting nanoparticles
Applied Physics Letters, 2002The temperature-dependent magnetization and the hysteresis properties (remanence and coercivity) of magnetic nanoparticle arrays are studied by Monte Carlo simulations. An oscillatory variation of the remanence with layer coverage and accompanying peaks in the coercive field are predicted at low temperatures, due to dipolar interparticle interactions ...

Zero-dimensional properties of self-assembled islands.
2009The steady state and dynamic properties of semiconductor self-assembled island structures made from III-V materials are studied by photoluminescence and time-resolved photoluminescence. The islands layer contains a number of hemispherical caps with a low-gap material inside the cap and a high-gap material outside. The experiments performed are aimed at
