Evaluation of the performance of self-healing concrete at small and large scale under laboratory conditions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
HEALCON is an EU-FP7 project which aims to develop self-healing concrete to create durable and sustainable concrete structures. While during the first years of the project the self-healing materials (including the healing agents and suitable ...

Diversity and complexity in neural organoids

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Neural organoid research aims to expand genetic diversity on one side and increase tissue complexity on the other. Chimeroids integrate multiple donor genomes within single organoids. Self‐organising multi‐identity organoids, exogenous cell seeding, or enforced assembly of region‐specific organoids contribute to tissue complexity.

An Equivalent Circuit Model for Lithium Battery of Electric Vehicle considering Self-Healing Characteristic

open access: yesJournal of Control Science and Engineering, 2018
Considering the self-healing phenomenon of lithium batteries during intermittent discharge, a self-healing characteristic-based equivalent circuit model of lithium batteries is proposed.

Non-destructive testing techniques for the observation of healing effects in cementitious materials: an introduction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
To develop an appropriate method of self-healing for cementitious materials including the right composition and amount of suitable healing agents it is required to investigate the healing efficiency for certain material mixtures.

Linking neurogenesis, oligodendrogenesis, and myelination defects to neurodevelopmental disruption in primary mitochondrial disorders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Mitochondrial remodeling shapes neural and glial lineage progression by matching metabolic supply with demand. Elevated OXPHOS supports differentiation and myelin formation, while myelin compaction lowers mitochondrial dependence, revealing mitochondria as key drivers of developmental energy adaptation.

Self‐Healing Microsupercapacitors with Size‐Dependent 2D MXene

open access: yesChemElectroChem, 2020
Very recently, 2D MXene has attracted a lot of attention in energy storage, due to its large specific surface area, good hydrophilicity, good conductivity and adjustable composition.

Particle coating using foams and bubbles : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This thesis investigates powder coating using foams or bubbles. The work initially started on foams. Wettability studies first showed that foams can be used to coat powders. Research then focussed on the fundamental unit of foams, the bubble.

Self‐Healing Molecular Crystals

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, 2016
AbstractOne of the most inevitable limitations of any material that is exposed to mechanical impact is that they are inexorably prone to mechanical damage, such as cracking, denting, gouging, or wearing. To confront this challenge, the field of polymers has developed materials that are capable of autonomous self‐healing and recover their macroscopic ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.
