Thermal Breakage and Self-Healing of a Polymer Chain under Tensile Stress
We consider the thermal breakage of a tethered polymer chain of discrete segments coupled by Morse potentials under constant tensile stress. The chain dynamics at the onset of fracture is studied analytically by Kramers-Langer multidimensional theory and

Next‐generation proteomics improves lung cancer risk prediction
This is one of very few studies that used prediagnostic blood samples from participants of two large population‐based cohorts. We identified, evaluated, and validated an innovative protein marker model that outperformed an established risk prediction model and criteria employed by low‐dose computed tomography in lung cancer screening trials.

Based on the concept of: "Collective Unconscious", from C. G. Jung, the authors discuss the theme of the "Wounded-healer", as an archetype to enlighten the practice and the training of modern medicine. By the understanding of the deep meanings of the ancient myth of Asclepius (Esculapio) a solid help can be provide on the everyday problems of the ...

Particle coating using foams and bubbles : a thesis presented in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering at Massey University, Palmerston North, New Zealand [PDF]
This thesis investigates powder coating using foams or bubbles. The work initially started on foams. Wettability studies first showed that foams can be used to coat powders. Research then focussed on the fundamental unit of foams, the bubble.

LDAcoop: Integrating non‐linear population dynamics into the analysis of clonogenic growth in vitro
Limiting dilution assays (LDAs) quantify clonogenic growth by seeding serial dilutions of cells and scoring wells for colony formation. The fraction of negative wells is plotted against cells seeded and analyzed using the non‐linear modeling of LDAcoop.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve
