Self‐Injection Locked Frequency Conversion Laser

open access: yesLaser & Photonics Reviews, 2023
AbstractHigh‐coherence visible and near‐visible laser sources are centrally important to the operation of advanced position/navigation/timing systems as well as classical/quantum sensing systems. However, the complexity and size of these bench‐top lasers are an impediment to their transition beyond the laboratory. Here, a system‐on‐chip that emits high‐

Self-injection locking of a laser diode to a high-Q silicon WGM microresonator [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2019
The key properties of the self-injection locking regime of a laser diode to a high-Q microresonator with whispering gallery mode made of crystalline silicon are considered.

Tunable self-injection locked green laser diode [PDF]

open access: yesOptics Letters, 2018
We report, to the best of our knowledge, the first employment of a self-injection locking scheme for the demonstration of a tunable InGaN/GaN semiconductor laser diode. We have achieved a 7.11 nm (521.10-528.21 nm) tunability in a green color with different injection currents and temperatures.

Hybrid InP and SiN integration of an octave-spanning frequency comb

open access: yesAPL Photonics, 2021
Implementing optical-frequency combs with integrated photonics will enable wider use of precision timing signals. Here, we explore the generation of an octave-span, Kerr-microresonator frequency comb using hybrid integration of an InP distributed ...

Linewidth narrowing in self-injection-locked on-chip lasers [PDF]

open access: yesLight: Science & Applications, 2023
Abstract Stable laser emission with narrow linewidth is of critical importance in many applications, including coherent communications, LIDAR, and remote sensing. In this work, the physics underlying spectral narrowing of self-injection-locked on-chip lasers to Hz-level lasing linewidth is investigated using a composite-cavity ...

Application of Dual-Frequency Self-Injection Locked DFB Laser for Brillouin Optical Time Domain Analysis

open access: yesSensors, 2021
Self-injection locking to an external fiber cavity is an efficient technique enabling drastic linewidth narrowing of semiconductor lasers. Recently, we constructed a simple dual-frequency laser source that employs self-injection locking of a DFB laser in

Multi-Mode Lasers for Self-Forced Opto-Electronic Oscillators in Compact Frequency Synthesizers

open access: yesIEEE Journal of Microwaves, 2021
Advanced telecommunication, imaging, and remote sensing systems require reliable ultra-high stability local oscillators. Particularly, coherent detection of digital data signals relies on a low aperture jitter of local oscillators in addition to high ...

Injection-Locked Frequency Divider Topology and Design Techniques for Wide Locking-Range and High-Order Division

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2017
An injection-locked frequency divider topology for wide locking-range and high-order division is presented. Based on the theoretical analysis of the locking-range and injection locking characteristic, we propose locking-range enhancement techniques and ...

Self-injection locking of the DFB laser through an external ring fiber cavity: Polarization behavior

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2016
We study stability of self-injection locking realized with DFB laser coupled with an external fiber optic ring cavity. Polarization behavior of the radiation circulating in the feedback loop is reported.
