Generation of Arbitrary Frequency Chirps with a Fiber-Based Phase Modulator and Self-Injection-Locked Diode Laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
We present a novel technique for producing pulses of laser light whose frequency is arbitrarily chirped. The output from a diode laser is sent through a fiber-optical delay line containing a fiber-based electro-optical phase modulator. Upon emerging from

Low-Cost Optoelectronic Self-Injection-Locked Oscillators [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2008
We demonstrate a new configuration for an optoelectronic self-injection-locked (SIL) oscillator, where a part of the electrical output signal is self-injected after passing through a long optical delay line for output phase-noise reduction. The SIL oscillator consists of an electrical free-running oscillator and a long optical feedback loop.

Spectral Purity Improvement by Combining Self-Injection Locking and Stimulated Thermal Rayleigh Scattering in Fiber Lasers

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
A stimulated thermal Rayleigh scattering (STRS)-based self-injection locking technique is proposed and utilized in fiber laser to improve its spectral purity.

Generation of frequency combs and dissipative solitons in integrated microresonators in self-injection locking regime [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2019
We developed a method to generate frequency combs that implements compact multimode diode laser. This technique allows for generating of low-noise frequency combs with the linewidth around 100 kHz due to self-injection locking effect.

Stability analysis of the self-phase-locked divide-by-2 optical parametric oscillator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
The properties of all-optical phase-coherent frequency division by 2, based on a self-phase-locked continuous-wave (cw) optical parametric oscillator (OPO), are investigated theoretically.

Frequency dynamics of gain-switched injection-locked semiconductor lasers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
The frequency dynamics of gain-switched singlemode semiconductor lasers subject to optical injection is investigated. The requirements for low time jitter and reduced frequency chirp operation are studied as a function of the frequency mismatch between ...

Dual-laser self-injection locking to an integrated microresonator

open access: yesOptics Express, 2022
Diode laser self-injection locking (SIL) to a whispering gallery mode of a high quality factor resonator is a widely used method for laser linewidth narrowing and high-frequency noise suppression. SIL has already been used for the demonstration of ultra-low-noise photonic microwave oscillators and soliton microcomb generation and has a wide range of ...

Microresonator and Laser Parameter Definition via Self-Injection Locking [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Applied, 2020
Self-injection locking to a high-quality-factor microresonator is a key component of various up-to-date photonic applications, including compact narrow-linewidth lasers and microcomb sources. For optimal construction of such devices it is necessary to know the parameters of the locking mode, which is a challenging task.

Optical double-locked semiconductor lasers

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
Self-sustained period-one (P1) nonlinear dynamics of a semiconductor laser are investigated when both optical injection and modulation are applied for stable microwave frequency generation.

Wavelength conversion by cavity-enhanced injection-locked four-wavemixing in a fiber-Bragg-grating coupled diode laser [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Four-wave mixing (FWM) in a fiber-Bragg-grating (FBG) coupled semiconductor laser is investigated. We show that a large resonance enhancement of the FWM conversion efficiency can be obtained when the laser cavity is injection-locked by the converted ...
