A novel approach to monitoring the laser injection-locking (IL) state is proposed and verified using the side-mode suppression ratio (SMSR). In a photonics experiment for laser IL, an optical spectrum analyzer with the conventional criterion of a 35-dB ...

A stable single-polarization narrow linewidth single-frequency distributed feedback (DFB) fiber laser is proposed and demonstrated. For the first time, to our knowledge, the tapered FBG written in the photosensitive large-mode-area (LMA) high ...

A millimetre wave phase shifter using a 40GHz hybrid mode locked laser [PDF]
In this paper, electrical injection locking of a modelocked laser is used to create a millimetre wave phase shifter. The phase shift is measured directly using a vector network analyzer enabling straightforward characterization of such systems.

Frequency-sweep generation by resonant self-injection locking
We report a novel application of self-injection locking. A diode laser is injection locked to its own frequency-shifted emission. By resonant phase modulation of the fed-back light, the laser's emission frequency is shown to swing periodically through the locking range. The laser operates as a sweep generator driven by resonant self-injection locking.

Resonant micro-optical gyro based on self-injection locking
We propose the idea and design of a novel resonant micro-optical gyro based on a self-injection locking technique. By enhancing the reciprocity and measuring beat frequency, the sensitivity of gyro is improved effectively, which is usually limited by two main factors: low signal-to-noise ratio and immature signal detecting technique.

Narrow-linewidth lasers have a high spectral purity, long coherent length, and low phase noise, so they have important applications in atomic clocks, precision measurement, and quantum computing. We inject a transmitted laser from a narrow-linewidth (∼15
