Comparative analysis of strategies for a semi-active suspension of a ¼ vehicle

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2018
The vehicle suspension isolates the chassis from road irregularities, reacting to forces produced by the tires and the braking torques, always keeping the road tire contact, providing stability and safety.

Single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assays for high‐throughput DNA–protein interaction studies

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We describe an optimised single‐molecule DNA flow‐stretch assay that visualises DNA–protein interactions in real time. Linear DNA fragments are tethered to a surface and stretched by buffer flow for fluorescence imaging. Using λ and φX174 DNA, this protocol enhances reproducibility and accessibility, providing a versatile approach for studying diverse ...

Designing an Electromagnetic Damper

open access: yesMachines
When it comes to active or semi-active suspension, one of many design challenges is the ability to dynamically change the damping rate of a shock absorber. Two fundamental means of accomplishing variable damping are by changing the restriction imposed on

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Derivation and characterization of retinal pigment epithelium from urine‐derived iPSCs

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Age‐related macular degeneration causes vision loss via RPE dysfunction and loss. Traditional iPSC therapies rely on invasive biopsies, limiting scalability. Here, we utilize urine‐derived stem cells as an accessible source to generate u‐iPSCs, successfully differentiated into pigmented RPE. This “Urine‐to‐Retina” platform provides a promising path for

Hydrostatic pressure activates HIF‐1α via β‐catenin to promote stemness in breast cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
To mimic the elevated intestinal fluid pressure in breast cancers, we loaded human breast cancer cells (MCF‐7, MDA‐MB‐453, and BT‐474) to 50 mmHg hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure exposure upregulated HIF‐1α and induced stemness in MCF‐7 and BT‐474 cells.

Design and performance evaluation of a novel fractional order PID control strategy for vehicle semi-active suspension

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering
The performance of a semi-active suspension depends on the quality of the control algorithm. Considering the limitations of conventional PID controllers within intricate nonlinear systems, such as imprecise parameter tuning and performance deterioration,

Some LPV approaches for semi-active suspension control [PDF]

open access: yes2012 American Control Conference (ACC), 2012
This tutorial paper aims at presenting two methodologies to deal with the semi-active suspension control problem, in the framework of Linear Parameter Varying (LPV) systems.
