A semi-analytical finite element method for three-dimensional consolidation analysis
Computers and Geotechnics, 2001Abstract An efficient formulation, based on a semi-analytical finite element method, is described for elasto-plastic analyses of consolidation of an axi-symmetric soil body subjected to three-dimensional loading. Expressing the field quantities in the form of discrete Fourier series results in a set of modal equations that can be solved separately ...

Semi-analytical finite element analysis of elastic waveguides subjected to axial loads
Ultrasonics, 2009Predicting the influence of axial loads on the wave propagation in structures such as rails requires numerical analysis. Conventional three-dimensional finite element analysis has previously been applied to this problem. The process is tedious as it requires that a number of different length models be solved and that the user identify the computed ...

A semi-analytic finite-element analysis of circular plate bending problems
The Journal of Strain Analysis for Engineering Design, 1980Semi-analytic formulations have previously been used for a number of stressing problems wherein axisymmetric structures have supported non-axisymmetric loads. The approach is here shown to be very useful for circular plates, and to have especial value for design analyses using desk top computers in which the main store is relatively small.

Semi-analytical finite element method for modeling of lamb wave propagation
CEAS Aeronautical Journal, 2013Lamb wave propagation in plates is multi-modal, dispersive and highly dependent on the material properties. In homogeneous isotropic plates, Lamb modes can be grouped into symmetric and anti-symmetric modes, and they are decoupled from the shear modes.

A semi-analytical finite element model for the analysis of piezolaminated cylindrical shells
SPIE Proceedings, 2006This paper addresses bending of multilayered cylindrical shells with piezoelectric properties using a semi-analytical axisymmetric shell finite element model with piezoelectric layers using the 3D linear elastic theory. In the present model, the equations of motion are derived by expanding the displacement field using the Fourier series in the ...

Development of a semi-analytical nonlinear finite element formulation for cylindrical shells
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2013This article introduces a new semi-analytical nonlinear finite element formulation for thin cylinders according to a continuum-based approach. A comparison between the continuum-based approach and the classical approach for the buckling behavior of isotropic and orthotropic perfect cylinders validates the results.

Semi-analytical finite-element study for elastomeric composite solids of revolution
AIAA Journal, 1989The research presented in this paper is concerned with the development of a linear composite theory, along with a semi-analytica l finite-element analysis for horizontally layered, reinforced, elastomeric bearings of revolution subjected to nonaxisymmetr ic loads.

Numerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations, 2009
AbstractThe finite element method (FEM) is a numerical method for approximate solution of partial differential equations with appropriate boundary conditions. This work describes a methodology for generating the elastic stiffness matrix of an axisymmetric eight‐noded finite element with the help of Computer Algebra Systems. The approach is described as

AbstractThe main aim of this paper is a development of the semi‐analytical probabilistic version of the finite element method (FEM) related to the homogenization problem. This approach is based on the global version of the response function method and symbolic integral calculation of basic probabilistic moments of the homogenized tensor and is applied ...
