Semicarbazide in Canadian bakery products

Food Additives and Contaminants, 2006
Levels of semicarbazide were determined by liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry using isotope dilution ((13)C(15)N(2)-semicarbazide) methodology, and they were measured, after hydrolysis in 0.125 M hydrochloric acid and derivatization with 2-nitrobenzaldehyde, as a sum of free and bound semicarbazide.

Electrical, thermal and infrared studies on semicarbazide hydrochloride and semicarbazide hydrobromide

Applied Physics A Solids and Surfaces, 1992
Semicarbazide hydrochloride (SEM.HCl) was reported to be a prototype of another possible family of ferroelectrics [Appl. Phys. Lett. 20, 49 (1972)]. The present dielectric, resistivity, thermal and infrared absorption studies carried out on SEM.HCl and SEM.HBr do not confirm this suggestion.

Semicarbazide Formation in Flour and Bread

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2008
Azodicarbonamide, an approved food additive, is commonly used as a flour additive and dough conditioner in the United States and Canada. A number of researchers have clearly established a link between the use of azodicarbonamide and semicarbazide contamination in commercial bread products.

Methylated semicarbazides

Recueil des Travaux Chimiques des Pays-Bas, 1943
AbstractSemicarbazide is the common but incorrect name for carbamic acid hydrazide: magnified imageThe atom are numbered as indicated.Semicarbazide reacts readily with aldehydes and ketones, and this reaction is often used to separate those compounds from mixtures or to identify them.
