Cryoprotectant-free vitrification of human spermatozoa in new artificial seminal fluid [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Vitrification is a new method that has been recently introduced in Assisted Reproduction Technique programs. The aim of this study was to design a new medium similar to normal human seminal fluid (SF), formulation artificial seminal fluid (ASF), and to ...

Antigens of Human Seminal Plasma.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1956
SummaryRabbits and roosters injected with whole human semen, seminal plasma and washed spermatozoa produced antisera which showed a high degree of specificity for seminal antigens as compared with human serum and organ extracts. However, a distinction between seminal plasma and spermatozoa could not be obtained with immunological technics.

Strength through diversity: how cancers thrive when clones cooperate

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Intratumor heterogeneity can offer direct benefits to the tumor through cooperation between different clones. In this review, Kuiken et al. discuss existing evidence for clonal cooperativity to identify overarching principles, and highlight how novel technological developments could address remaining open questions.

Association of urinary and seminal plasma vanadium concentrations with semen quality: A repeated-measures study of 1135 healthy men

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Although animal studies have shown the reproductive toxicity of vanadium, less is known about its effects on semen quality in humans. Among 1135 healthy men who were screened as potential semen donors, we investigated the relationships of semen quality ...

Ovulation-inducing factor: a protein component of llama seminal plasma

open access: yesReproductive Biology and Endocrinology, 2010
Background Previously, we documented the presence of ovulation-inducing factor (OIF) in the seminal plasma of llamas and alpacas. The purpose of the study was to define the biochemical characteristics of the molecule(s) in seminal plasma responsible for ...

Metabolomic markers of fertility in bull seminal plasma. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2018
Metabolites play essential roles in biological systems, but detailed identities and significance of the seminal plasma metabolome related to bull fertility are still unknown.

Detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer patients using a methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We developed a cost‐effective methylation‐specific droplet digital PCR multiplex assay containing tissue‐conserved and tumor‐specific methylation markers. The assay can detect circulating tumor DNA with high accuracy in patients with localized and metastatic colorectal cancer.

Monitoring of circulating tumor DNA allows early detection of disease relapse in patients with operable breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Monitoring circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) in patients with operable breast cancer can reveal disease relapse earlier than radiology in a subset of patients. The failure to detect ctDNA in some patients with recurrent disease suggests that ctDNA could serve as a supplement to other monitoring approaches.

Comparison of oxidant and antioxidant status of seminal plasma and spermatozoa of several fish species

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2013
Oxidant and antioxidant activity in seminal plasma was compared with that in spermatozoa of teleost (common carp Cyprinus carpio and brook trout Salvelinus fontinalis) and chondrostean (Russian sturgeon Acipenser gueldenstaedtii, Siberian sturgeon ...
