Sensible heat flux estimation by flux variance and half‐order time derivative methods [PDF]
This study is the first to contrast two similarity theory methods, the flux variance and the half‐order time derivative, over a wide range of atmospheric stability and surface roughness conditions. These two methods were selected because they require only single‐level temperature measurement to estimate sensible heat flux.

Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Study on Surface Heat Budget of Various Pavements for Urban Heat Island Mitigation
The surface heat budgets of various pavement surfaces are studied with the aim of mitigating the urban heat island effect. In this study, the thermal characteristics of pavements are examined using data from observations.

A comparison of surface sensible and latent heat fluxes from aircraft and surface measurements in FIFE 1987 [PDF]
Surface fluxes of sensible and latent heat over a tall-grass prairie in central Kansas, as measured by 22 surface stations during FIFE 1987, are compared with values gained indirectly by linear extrapolation of aircraft-measured flux profiles to the ...

The surface energy balance of early summer land-fast sea ice in Atka Bay, Antarctica [PDF]
In-situ measurements of the land-fast sea ice energy balance are scarce. We present a data set that comprises eddy-covariance measurements of sensible and latent heat as well as measurements of the sea-ice temperature gradient, long-wave and short-wave ...

RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Enhancement of surface-atmosphere fluxes by desert-fringe vegetation through reduction of surface albedo and of soil heat flux [PDF]
Under the arid conditions prevailing at the end of the dry season in the western Negev/northern Sinai region, vegetation causes a sharp increase relative to bare soil in the daytime sensible heat flux from the surface to the atmosphere.

Lake-atmosphere interactions at Alqueva reservoir : a case study in the summer of 2014 [PDF]
The study of lake-atmosphere interactions was the main purpose of a 2014 summer experiment at Alqueva reservoir in Portugal. Near-surface fluxes of momentum, heat and mass [water vapour (H2O) and carbon dioxide (CO2)] were obtained with the new Campbell ...
