Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

PAK1 activation drives divergent resistance mechanisms to aromatase inhibition and tamoxifen in a luminal: A breast cancer model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Breast cancer remains a major cause of cancer death in women, frequently developing endocrine therapy resistance. This study demonstrates that upregulated p21‐activated kinase 1 (PAK1) activity drives resistance to tamoxifen and long‐term estrogen deprivation in ER+ breast cancer models.

Re-estimation of the vertical sensible heat flux by determining the environmental temperature on a single-point tower measurement

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science
Surface energy balance has always been a goal of those studying the Earth’s climate system. However, many studies have demonstrated that turbulent heat fluxes are usually underestimated by eddy covariance (EC) measurements, such that the energy balance ...

The Summer Surface Energy Budget of the Ice-Free Area of Northern James Ross Island and Its Impact on the Ground Thermal Regime

open access: yesAtmosphere, 2020
Despite the key role of the surface energy budget in the global climate system, such investigations are rare in Antarctica. In this study, the surface energy budget measurements from the largest ice-free area on northern James Ross Island, in Antarctica,

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

A light‐triggered Time‐Resolved X‐ray Solution Scattering (TR‐XSS) workflow with application to protein conformational dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Summer soil moisture-convective precipitation coupling in Northern China at different timescales

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology: Regional Studies
Land-atmosphere coupling plays an important role in regional precipitation and climate change, but the coupling characteristics at different time scales remain controversial.

Annual Observations of Climatic Impacts in the Songhua River Basin, China

open access: yesAdvances in Meteorology, 2015
Heat fluxes have been recognized as determinant regarding the river effect on microclimate. The relationship between rivers and the atmosphere is particularly significant for heat fluxes and varies with the meteorology and hydrology. In this study, based
