The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

On large angle multiple gluon radiation

open access: yes, 2003
Jet shape observables which involve measurements restricted to a part of phase space are sensitive to multiplication of soft gluon with large relative angles and give rise to specific single logarithmically enhanced (SL) terms (non-global logs).

Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Sensitivity analysis of atmospheric low‐frequency variability

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, 1997
AbstractThe sensitivity of the Pacific‐North‐American (PNA) pattern and the North‐Atlantic Oscillation (NAO) pattern to small perturbations is investigated using adjoint techniques. Analysis is perfomed on integrations of a quasi‐geostrophic (QG) model whose internal low‐frequency variability is realistic.

A Family of Continuous Variable Entanglement Criteria using General Entropy Functions

open access: yes, 2010
We derive a family of entanglement criteria for continuous variable systems based on the R\'enyi entropy of complementary distributions. We show that these entanglement witnesses can be more sensitive than those based on second-order moments, as well as ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Feature Enhancement Network: A Refined Scene Text Detector

open access: yes, 2017
In this paper, we propose a refined scene text detector with a \textit{novel} Feature Enhancement Network (FEN) for Region Proposal and Text Detection Refinement. Retrospectively, both region proposal with \textit{only} $3\times 3$ sliding-window feature

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Estimation of Population Variance for a Sensitive Variable in Stratified Sampling Using Randomized Response Technique

open access: yesRevstat Statistical Journal
In this paper, Randomized Response technique (RRT) is used to propose some separate and combined variance estimators for a sensitive variable using stratified random sampling.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.
