A novel PID controller for pressure control of artificial ventilator using optimal rule based fuzzy inference system with RCTO algorithm

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
In order to improve the pressure tracking response of an artificial ventilator system, a novel proportional integral derivative (PID) controller is designed in the present work by utilizing an optimal rule-based fuzzy inference system (FIS) with a ...

Optimization Approach to Parametric Tuning of Power System Stabilizer Based on Trajectory Sensitivity Analysis

open access: yesCoRR, 2013
This paper proposed an transient-based optimal parametric tuning method for power system stabilizer (PSS) based on trajectory sensitivity (TS) analysis of hybrid system, such as hybrid power system (HPS). The main objective is to explore a systematic optimization approach of PSS under large disturbance of HPS, where its nonlinear features cannot be ...

An Improved Approach for Reducing the Dimensionality of Wing Aerodynamic Optimization Considering Longitudinal Stability

open access: yesAerospace
The wing aerodynamic shape optimization is a typical high-dimensional problem with numerous independent design variables. Researching methods to reduce the dimensionality of optimization from the perspective of aerodynamic characteristics is necessary ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...
