An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

In Situ Biofilm Monitoring Using a Heat Transfer Sensor: The Impact of Flow Velocity in a Pipe and Planar System

open access: yesBiosensors
Industrially applied bioelectrochemical systems require long-term stable operation, and hence the control of biofilm accumulation on the electrodes. An optimized application of biofilm control mechanisms presupposes on-line, in-situ monitoring of the ...

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Automatic Control System of the Evaporator in the Technology of Spent Nuclear Fuel Processing

open access: yesChemical Engineering Transactions, 2017
The operation of the radiochemical plant is impossible without high-quality automatic control systems. In the technologies of spent nuclear fuel reprocessing, the method of continuous evaporation is often used for a solution conditioning.

Sensitivity Function Methods in Control System Education *

open access: yesIFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1991
Abstract Parametric dependence of system responses is an important issue in control system analysis and design. Time domain sensitivity functions provide an efficient, simple and insightful method for evaluating parameters effects. Sensitivity function methods are reviewed, and a testbed arc welding installation is used to demonstrate the ...

AAA+ protein unfoldases—the Moirai of the proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
AAA+ unfoldases are essential molecular motors that power protein degradation and disaggregation. This review integrates recent cryo‐electron microscopy (cryo‐EM) structures and single‐molecule biophysical data to reconcile competing models of substrate translocation.

Measuring environmental quantum noise exhibiting a non-monotonous spectral shape

open access: yes, 2019
Understanding the physical origin of noise affecting quantum systems is important for nearly every quantum application. Quantum noise spectroscopy has been employed in various quantum systems, such as superconducting qubits, NV centers and trapped ions ...
