An application of adaptive fault-tolerant control to nano-spacecraft

open access: yes, 2014
Since nano-spacecraft are small, low cost and do not undergo the same rigor of testing as conventional spacecraft, they have a greater risk of failure.

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Actuator and sensor fault isolation in a class of nonlinear dynamical systems

open access: yesJournal of Automation and Intelligence
Fault isolation in dynamical systems is a challenging task due to modeling uncertainty and measurement noise, interactive effects of multiple faults and fault propagation.

Flow Enabled Target Capture Halbach‐based magnetic enrichment increases circulating tumor cell capture from blood in metastatic cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...

Real-Time Sensor Fault Tolerant Control of DC-DC Converters in DC Microgrids Using a Switching Unknown Input Observer

open access: yesIEEE Access
DC Microgrids are rapidly developing, driven by the increasing integration of renewable sources and dynamic loads. Their growing adoption in critical applications raises the need for operational safety and reliability, particularly under fault conditions.

Application of Adaptive Thresholds in Robust Fault Detection of an Electro-Mechanical Single-Wheel Steering Actuator

open access: yes, 2012
A fault detection scheme has been developed for an electromechanical steering actuator under closed-loop control. The closed-loop system is modeled as a 2nd order system with bounded parameter uncertainties given by the performance specifications.

Advanced gas-path fault diagnostics for stationary gas turbines [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
The reliabilities of the gas-path components (compressor, burners and turbines) of a gas turbine (GT) are usually high when compared with those of other GT systems such as fuel supply and control.

USP29‐regulated noncanonical stabilization of the hypoxia‐inducible factor‐α in aggressive prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic
