Developmental Reinforcement Learning through Sensorimotor Space Enlargement
International audienceIn the framework of model-free deep reinforcement learning with continuous sensorimotor space, we propose a new type of transfer learning, inspired by the child development, where the sensorimotor space of an agent grows while it is

Food‐solicitation displays in nestling birds: still begging for answers
ABSTRACT Nestling begging is a key model for understanding animal communication and parent–offspring conflict. Dynamic begging displays are often interpreted as costly, honest signals of need, with honesty maintained by viability costs, as proposed in Godfray's influential signalling model.

Thresholds: The metaphorical foundations of powerful knowledge
Abstract This paper advances a theoretical account of threshold concepts as metaphorical‐relational structures that reorganise meaning across contexts. Building on conceptual metaphor theory, we propose that threshold concepts can be understood as sites of schema‐level reorganisation: deep, embodied patterns of relational logic that scaffold abstract ...

From Sensorimotor Categories and Pantomime to Grounded Symbols and Propositions
The adaptive success of organisms depends on being able to do the right thing with the right kind of thing. This is categorization. Most species can learn categories by direct experience (induction).

ABSTRACT Objective Eating disorders (EDs) are characterized by high rates of psychiatric comorbidity and suboptimal treatment outcomes. There remain critical gaps in research, including the exploration of effective transdiagnostic interventions. This forum article examines the potential of psilocybin treatment (PT) as a transdiagnostic intervention for

Reflex seizures and epilepsy surgery: A network approach case‐based exploration
Abstract Context Reflex seizures (RS) are defined by their consistent provocation by specific stimuli, encompassing a broad range from elementary sensory inputs to complex cognitive tasks. While RS are often encountered in clinical practice, their surgical management remains sparsely reported and poorly systematized.

Oligogenic inheritance in epilepsy: A systematic exome‐wide analysis
Abstract Objective Genetic factors contribute to the majority of epilepsies, but the exact genetic cause remains unknown in most patients. Incomplete penetrance and variable expressivity are frequent, and recent studies showed a burden of deleterious variants in epilepsy genes, suggesting a role for oligogenic inheritance.

Investigating interlimb generalisation of Bayesian sensorimotor learning
An emerging paradigm shift is currently underway in neuroscience involving the modelling of neural systems using the mathematical framework of Bayesian decision theory, and more significantly, treatment of the brain itself as a Bayesian machine.
