Representation-mediated Aversion as a Model to Study Psychotic-like States in Mice

open access: yesBio-Protocol, 2017
Several paradigms for rodent models of the cognitive and negative endophenotypes found in schizophrenic patients have been proposed. However, significant efforts are needed in order to study the pathophysiology of schizophrenia-related positive symptoms.

Nucleus accumbens neuronal activity during a sensory preconditioning task

open access: yes, 2013
The nucleus accumbens (NAc) is involved in associative learning and motivated behavior but its role in Sensory Preconditioning (SPC) remains unknown. Here, electrophysiological recordings were taken from the NAc core while rats performed three phases of ...

Danger changes the way the brain processes innocuous information: a study of sensory preconditioning in rats

open access: yes, 2021
This thesis used a sensory preconditioning protocol to examine how danger influences the processing of innocuous information. Rats are exposed to pairings of two innocuous stimuli (a sound and light), S2 and S1, and then to pairings of one of these ...

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Memory guidance of value-based decision making at an abstract level of representation

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2020
Value-based decisions about alternatives we have never experienced can be guided by associations between current choice options and memories of prior reward.

Sensory Preconditioning in Cats following Bilateral Ablation of Temporal Cortex

open access: yes, 1963
Nine normal and eight operated cats with similar bilateral lesions in the auditory cortex were given preconditioning treatment in the form of 200 paired presentations of light and tone. All Ss were subsequently trained to make an avoidance response in a

Rats Distinguish Between Absence of Events and Lack of Information in Sensory Preconditioning [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In two experiments, rats received sensory preconditioning treatment in which an auditory conditioned stimulus (CS) X was followed by visual CS A in Phase 1, and CS A was followed by an appetitive US (sucrose) in Phase 2.

Influence of Scan Strategies in Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion on Solidification, Microstructure, and High‐Temperature Compressive Properties of γ′‐Strengthened Inconel 738LC

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Experiments and thermophysical simulations were conducted to investigate the electron beam powder bed fusion electron beam (PBF‐EB/M) process for the γ′‐strengthened nickel‐based superalloy Inconel 738LC. The results demonstrate the impact of process‐induced microstructural variations on high‐temperature mechanical behavior, providing a basis for ...

Sensory Preconditioning, the Espinet Effect, and Heider's Balance Theory: Note on Animal Reasoning of Event Relations

open access: yes, 2005
Sensory preconditioning and the Espinet effect illustrate that animals can reason about event relations. In sensory preconditioning, a combination of positive A-B and B-C relations yields a positive A-C relation.

Solution‐Processed Two‐Dimensional Indium Oxide on Sodium‐Embedded Alumina for Reconfigurable Optoelectronic Synaptic Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Wafer‐scale two‐dimensioanl In2Se3 oxidized into InOx on sodium‐embedded beta‐alumina enables multifunctional reconfigurable electronics. Sodium ions accumulate within distinct spatial distribution under drain‐controlle and gate‐controlled operation. Drain‐control operation gives controllability of ultraviolet‐driven optoelectronic synaptic conductance
