Taxonomising the senses [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
I argue that we should reject the sparse view that there are or could be only a small number of rather distinct senses. When one appreciates this then one can see that there is no need to choose between the standard criteria that have been proposed as ...

Somatic mutational landscape in von Hippel–Lindau familial hemangioblastoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The causes of central nervous system (CNS) hemangioblastoma in Von Hippel–Lindau (vHL) disease are unclear. We used Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) on familial hemangioblastoma to investigate events that underlie tumor development. Our findings suggest that VHL loss creates a permissive environment for tumor formation, while additional alterations ...

Multi-omics analysis of flavor and quality modulation in dry-fermented sausages with textured pea protein

open access: yesFood Chemistry: X
As textured pea protein (TPP) emerges as a sustainable strategy for plant-based meat analogues, its influence on flavor precursors and the resulting volatile profile and sensory attributes remains underexplored.

Sensory substitution for space gloves and for space robots [PDF]

open access: yes
Sensory substitution systems for space applications are described. Physical sensors replace missing human receptors and feed information to the interpretive centers of a different sense.

Measuring sensory and marketing influences on consumers' choices among food and beverage product brands [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Advance in food science depends on measuring the factors in human perception that influence eaters' activities with branded products. Assessed samples must include at least two levels of a sensed material characteristic (e.g.

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

[Sensory Quality, Pore Size, Glycemic Index, and Glycemic Load of White Bread with Cassava Flour (Manihot esculenta) and Tempeh Flour Substitution]

open access: yesMedia Gizi Indonesia, 2019
Bread is alternative food made by wheat fl our that can be used as one of carbohydrates sources. Bread is classifi ed as high glycemic index food. Cassava is one of carbohydrate source contain high resistant starch which has low glycemic index, meanwhile

Action for perception : influence of handedness in visuo-auditory sensory substitution [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
In this preliminary study we address the question of the influence of handedness on the localization of targets perceived through a visuo-auditory substitution device.

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...
