Stellar Explosions by Magnetic Towers
We propose a magnetic mechanism for the collimated explosion of a massive star relevant for GRBs, XRFs and asymmetric supernovae. We apply Lynden-Bell's magnetic tower scenario to the interior of a massive rotating star after the core has collapsed to ...

2D Piecewise Linear Scalar Fields with Invertible Integral Lines
Abstract Integral lines of the gradient flow are standard features in continuously differentiable scalar fields that enjoy some useful properties: They cover the domain densely, do not split, merge, or intersect, and are therefore invertible. For widely used discretizations of scalar fields, the corresponding polygonal approximations of integral lines ...

First Evidence of Coexisting EIT Wave and Coronal Moreton Wave from SDO/AIA Observations
"EIT waves" are a globally propagating wavelike phenomenon. They were often interpreted as a fast-mode magnetoacoustic wave in the corona, despite various discrepancies between the fast-mode wave model and observations.

Dynamics in asymmetric double-well condensates [PDF]
The dynamics of Bose-Einstein condensates in asymmetric double-wells is studied. We construct a two-mode model and analyze the properties of the corresponding phase-space diagram, showing in particular that the minimum of the phase-space portrait becomes

Assessment of the 3D geometrical effects on the DEMO divertor pumping efficiency
In the present work, a parametric analysis by using the DIVGAS code is performed in order to highlight the influence of the inter-cassette gaps and the existence of the dome on the overall pumping efficiency of the DEMO divertor.

Abstract We report new results from a study of shock‐related features in the L6 ordinary chondrites Northwest Africa (NWA) 4672 and NWA 12841. Our observations confirm the occurrence of eight high‐pressure (HP) minerals in each meteorite, namely, ringwoodite, majorite, akimotoite, wadsleyite, albitic jadeite, lingunite, tuite, and xieite.

Modelling of the X-point radiator configuration in DTT with SOLEDGE2D-Eirene
This work studied the feasibility of an X-point radiator (XPR) in the DTT single-null full-power scenario using the edge modelling code SOLEDGE2D-EIRENE.
