Identification and Purification of Cholera Like Toxin from Environmental Isolate of Vibrio cholerae

open access: yesمجلة بغداد للعلوم, 2010
The presence and prevalence of V. cholerae were investigated in forty five water samples collected from different locations of Tiger River/ Baghdad city. Twenty one isolates were isolated by adopting a simple isolation techniques.

Visible‐Light Photoswitchable Covalent Tetra‐Ortho‐Fluoro‐Azobenzene Carbon Nanodot Hybrids for Optostimulation

open access: yesChemPhotoChem, EarlyView.
Tetra‐ortho‐fluoroazobenzene hybrids bound to carbon nanodots (CNDs) are prepared by covalent amide coupling. These show reversible switching between trans and cis using visible light (448 nm/530 nm), while retaining emission. The hybrids are nontoxic to cells and enable optical stimulation and offering potential for advanced light‐controlled ...

Almond Polysaccharide Ameliorates DSS‐Induced Ulcerative Colitis in Mice by Restoring Intestinal Barrier Function and Modulating Gut Microbiota and SCFAs Metabolism

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
This study shows that almond polysaccharide AP1 relieves DSS‐induced UC in mice by restoring the mucosal barrier, suppressing inflammation, and modulating gut microbiota and SCFA metabolism. ABSTRACT The development of new therapeutic strategies for ulcerative colitis (UC) requires the targeting of multiple pathogenic factors, including disruption of ...

Purification of immunoglobulin Y (IgY) from egg yolk by gel filtration chromatography

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Bābul, 2001
Objective: Purification of immunoglobulin Y from egg yolk by chromatography is a new investigation. In this study, we developed an easy and inexpensive method for purification of IgY from egg yolk.

Poly(2‐Oxazoline)‐Based Polyphotoacids: Synthesis, Solution Behavior, and Cellular Uptake of Multi‐Responsive Intracellular Transporters

open access: yesMacromolecular Rapid Communications, EarlyView.
The ability of photoacids to increase their acidity in response to light irradiation (excited state proton transfer, ESPT) makes them attractive building blocks for the design of stimuli‐responsive copolymers. In this contribution, we present highly biocompatible polyphotoacids based on poly(2‐oxazoline)s bearing 1‐hydroxypyrene units. Low cytotoxicity,

Liposomes Containing Tetraether Lipids and Cell‐Penetrating Peptides as Platform Technology for Oral Delivery of Peptides: A Comparative Study on GLP‐1 Analogs

open access: yesNano Select, EarlyView.
Liposomes functionalized with tetraether lipids and cell‐penetrating peptides are explored as a platform technology for oral peptide delivery. Therefore, peptide drugs (GLP‐1 analogs) with different sizes and physicochemical properties are used as model drugs.

Study on separation, purification and chemical structure of Curdlan polysaccharide

open access: yes浙江大学学报. 农业与生命科学版, 2004
Curdlan polysaccharide was isolated from the fermentation broth of Alcaligenes faecelis var. C125 by acid and alkali and the rude sample CD-1 was gained. The protein and pigment were removed from CD-I by Sevage method and cellulose column chromatography,

Herbivores induce plant chemical defenses based on the identity of their attacking parasitoid

open access: yesOikos, EarlyView.
Many parasitoids increase plant fitness by decreasing herbivore feeding damage. Solitary parasitoids (where only one individual completes development per host) generally cause their hosts to feed less than unparasitized herbivores, reducing pressure on plants to induce chemical defense production.

A novel Kv1.1 potassium channel blocking toxin from the venom of Palamneus gravimanus (Indian black scorpion)

open access: yesJournal of Venomous Animals and Toxins including Tropical Diseases, 2005
A peptide toxin was isolated from the venom of Palamneus gravimanus, the Indian black scorpion, to block human Kv1.1 channels expressed in Xenopus laevis oocytes.
