Transapical Beating-Heart Septal Myectomy for Obstructive Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy After Failed Septal Reduction Therapy

open access: yesThe Annals of Thoracic Surgery
This study sought to report an experience of transapical beating-heart septal myectomy (TA-BSM) for obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (oHCM) after failed septal reduction therapy (SRT, including transaortic septal myectomy, alcohol septal ablation, and radiofrequency ablation of the intraventricular septum) and to compare clinical outcomes with ...

Mucoadhesive Peptide‐Catalase Self‐Assembled Nano‐Formulation for Effective Treatment of Mucosal Inflammatory Diseases

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CR8L10 is self‐assembled with catalase (CAT) to form CR8L10@CAT nanocomplexes, which can anchor to mucosal surfaces via thiol‐disulfide exchange with mucin, thereby enhancing their mucosal retention. The efficient reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging at inflamed sites would then result in successful treatment in both the intravesical IC/BPS model ...

High‐Density E. Coli Cultivation Arrays for Combinatorial Drug Testing With Subsequent Lipid Profiling by MALDI‐MS

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High‐throughput antibiotic cross‐gradient assays on microdroplet arrays. A multichannel printhead together with five pressure regulators forms droplet arrays of up to 20 832 droplets within 25 minutes. Each droplet contains unique concentrations of antibiotics, allowing to moniture a vast spectrum of bacterial repsonses over night. The bacterial growth

Septal myectomy for obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: Comparison of outcomes of the transapical beating-heart and transaortic on-pump approachesCentral MessagePerspective

open access: yesJTCVS Open
Background: Transaortic on-pump septal myectomy (SM) is the established standard for surgical septal reduction, but transapical beating-heart SM recently has emerged as a less invasive alternative.

Terapia de ressincronização melhora a captação do MIBI-99mTc e a função cardíaca Cardiac resynchronization therapy improves the uptake of MIBI-99mTc and cardiac function

Current status of nonsurgical septal reduction therapy in hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy

open access: yesInterventional Cardiology, 2013
Nonsurgical septal reduction therapy for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy patients has been available since 1994. Medium-term case series following alcohol septal ablation (ASA) are now available. Procedural risk is low and a significant improvement in symptom burden and left ventricular outflow tract gradient is observed in most cases.

Pyrazole‐Derived Antibacterial Compounds Effectively Treat Methicillin‐Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus Infections by Inhibiting Aspartate Transcarbamoylase

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study unveils a novel antibacterial mechanism against MRSA, in which the compound Py‐27 selectively targets and inhibits aspartate transcarbamoylase (ATCase), a key enzyme in pyrimidine synthesis. This inhibition disrupts DNA replication, induces oxidative damage, leading to potent bactericidal activity.

Implementation of seven echocardiographic parameters of myocardial asynchrony to improve the long-term response rate of cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT)

open access: yesCardiovascular Ultrasound, 2008
Background Cardiac resynchronization Therapy (CRT) is an effective therapy for chronic heart failure with beneficial hemodynamic effects leading to a reduction of morbidity and mortality. The responder rates, however, are low.

Hypothalamic Control of Liver Health and Disease: From Circuits to Pathophysiology and Therapies

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This review delineates the hypothalamic circuits that control liver homeostasis via autonomic and neuroendocrine pathways. Dysregulation of this hypothalamus–liver axis drives disease progression across a spectrum including steatotic liver disease, liver inflammation and injury, fibrosis, cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma.
