Short Cycles Connectivity

open access: yes, 2002
Short cycles connectivity is a generalization of ordinary connectivity. Instead by a path (sequence of edges), two vertices have to be connected by a sequence of short cycles, in which two adjacent cycles have at least one common vertex.

Feedback Acquisition and Reconstruction of Spectrum-Sparse Signals by Predictive Level Comparisons

open access: yes, 2017
In this letter, we propose a sparsity promoting feedback acquisition and reconstruction scheme for sensing, encoding and subsequent reconstruction of spectrally sparse signals.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Open Sequence Components of a Closed Ecology

open access: yesThe American Biology Teacher, 1963
Among the items necessary for life support in a closed ecological system designed for space travel one may list oxygen, water, food, and energy. The production of oxygen for breathing has apparently been claimed by photosynthologists, and the production of drinking water by a variety of engineers.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Adaptability analysis of typical grounding fault detection methods in non-isolated flexible interconnected distribution networks

open access: yes电力工程技术
Non-isolated flexible interconnected distribution networks as the research object are explored, focusing on the adaptability issue of typical grounding fault detection methods when single-phase grounding faults occur in AC systems due to zero-sequence ...

Research on a Faulty Line Selection Method Based on the Zero-Sequence Disturbance Power of Resonant Grounded Distribution Networks

open access: yesEnergies, 2019
For fast and accurate faulty line selection (FLS) in single phase-to-ground (SPG) faults for resonant grounded distribution networks (RGDNs), this paper proposes a FLS method based on zero-sequence power characteristics.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

High-dimensional change-point detection with sparse alternatives

open access: yes, 2013
We consider the problem of detecting a change in mean in a sequence of Gaussian vectors. Under the alternative hypothesis, the change occurs only in some subset of the components of the vector.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
